Deck insurance

I’ve heard some talk around town that says you can’t get insurance if you have a wood stove or a deck. I’m not planning on a wood stove but for some reason, I’ve always had my heart set on a deck. So how to get around that one…is the question. Do I:
- give up on the idea…ain’t that big of deal anyway
- wait to get insured and add the deck…just don’t tell anybody?
or
- can you get an exclusion for having a deck…and if I fall off and break something…don’t go crying to the insurance company.

Hopefully there’s an option or what are we doing about decks now?

I have a solar rack, not a deck. Mine is actually the case. A lot of people only put panels on half the solar rack...

Many people add it after. I don't recommend that as they can deny any claim as you misled them on your qualification. They are going to see pictures of your rig if its in an accident. It will be cheaper for them to deny your accident claim because of an unrelated item you hid from them.

Don't ask for an exclusion, they wont do it. Either covered by their terms or you aren't. Homeowners policies are getting like this for trampolines, diving boards, etc.

homeowners policies are denying roof damage claims when solar panels are installed (along with denying damage to the solar)... insurance is about risk and $$ to the insurance company... collect and never pay out is their motto
