Driving bus back

Hi we’re buying a bus in Florida and driving it home to Utah. Can we drive it with our regular drivers licenses or do we need to get CDLs will our title be enough if we happen to get pulled over or do we need it registered/insured?

A temp tag should suffice for registration. Insurance is a must in case the unthinkable happens

when I brought my Superior back from oregon I just put a sign in the window that said "Vehicle in transit". "Private not for Hire" and never got bothered on the 2700 mile ride

Hi Vrad, I've written some pretty lengthy opinions about the whole commercial driver's license issue which you might be able to find. Basically, it varies from state to state and there's no national norm. I apologize for not writing more of that here, but I'm doing this from my phone.

As long as you don't get in a collision with anybody, the chance that you would be cited even if you were in a state that required a commercial license is pretty slim. And while I do generally get a trip permit when bringing buses back to our Arizona home, with the whole coronavirus thing going on those have been sometimes hard to get. And that would be my excuse if I were stopped for not having a plate or temp tag.
