I just tried in VA, and basically in order for the title to be changed from "bus" to "RV" a DMV agent has to come out to your house, inspect the bus, and sign off on it. Look up "titling reconstructed vehicle". I know I'm in VA, but maybe it's similar.

It seems to be pretty much the same process as if you made a homemade trailer.

Hey jester. I live in new Boston nh. Where you from. No prob for me to register as rv. Simply went to town office and told them I was converting a school bus to rv. They completed the reg and that was it. No big at all. My number is 325 0176 if you ever want to stop by. I have 2 skoolies. Take care, freebyrd

Bus Reg in NH

Hey freebyrd,
I have just spoke to my town office of Raymond and the DMV and I was told I need a Salvage inspection?
Did you have to do this? how did you word it when you spoke to the town clerk? did you say you had a retired bus you were registering as a rv or did you say you had to register a RV and just gave them the Make and Year of your bus?

Just registered it as an rv. No sweat. I registered the other one the same way. No sweat there either. It amazes me the run around that some people get. Good luck. Freebyrd

If one DMV office gives you a hard time, go to a different one. Lot of times it just depends on who you get, and what they know/don't know.

(Or go next door to VT and register it with them, there's a thread in this section about doing that, wink wink nudge nudge say no more.)

Its New Hampshire-tell them you cut off the back and made a flatbed out of wood. Thats sure to breeze thru.
