That is normal if you have not turned off the water valve to the unit

It just looks like a standard water spigot. There should be one by the driver, then 2 in the engine compartment (1 on each side).

Blew right rear tire.
Scratched right side of bus.
I waiting for tire services to come out. They only have 2 new tires.
Is it best to put each new one on out side on both rears?
Rather than 2 new on one side.

Thanks
Raul

I'd replace the tires on one side, and plan to replace the others soon.

without knowing what kind of bus tyou have its hard for me to tell.. but i'll take a guess that its a standard school bus.
theres 2 water faucet knobs under the hood.. if you turn them off that will stop the flow of coolant to those heater units and help keep you cooler driving.

wowsers thats not good!!! make sure the tire service checks the pressures on all your tires.. and look them over... these busses often sit for long time and tires can dry-rot... on my other bus I replaced all 6 because they were startinfg to get pretty cracked...

glad everyone is Ok and the bus is going to be fine too..

Hey Christopher,
I got a 2000 ford e450.

I'm spending the night at Baltimore.
Dad crashed the car. So need new tires.

Raul,

Great to know that everyone is OK.

Christopher.....where are you tonight? Did you get to meet up with Tango, or anyone else from Houston? I sent a post this am, but you know how computer stupid I am, and somehow that post is floating around the WWW.

Hope your trip is going smoothly. I found you another 3800 being auctioned in your Ohio hometown. (didn't look to be anywhere as nice as yours)

Safe travels

Update!!

first day on the road.. the new bus os driving great...

its a whole different Bird to drive than the Carpenter.. this one drives almost like a car.. the steering is nice and tight, most of everything works, my gauge panel has a couple issues.. the trans temp and AMP gauge are Inoperative.. the volt gauge is working right... the tach, speedo, temp, and oil all work fine.

noted are the small tires on it.. but they were either ordered factory or when put on. the schools cared enough to adjust the speedometer because its accurate.. I checked it with my GPS and its dead on..

they are 225/70R19.5's i think my silverado has that size..!

the bus is geared for it , as it could easily run up to 65.. the computer governs tjhe SPEED at 62.. the RPM's at 62 are under 2500 and its redline is 2700.. so it could be a 65 MPH bus.. if I get the governer on the speed removed and of course I'll leave the RPM governer at 2700 which is normal factopry from IHC on that engine.. my cruise control has been disabled by the factory or by the schools, so I need to get that activated too..

it felt like the bus has decent pickup in acceleration.. so I looked at the tag on the valve cover. this engine was offered in a 170 HP, a 195 HP, and a 210 HP varisnt. mine is stamped as the 195 HP variant... in a little 6 window bus that makes for a nice feel..

it does run a bit warm... just like my carpenter when i got it, the fan clutch never spins above minimum speed.. despite the fact there's burning hot air coming from the radiator.. its a viscous clutch and not a horton air drive. on a hot day like today in the south (90s and humid) when io ran it at the governed speed of 62 the temp ever so slowly went up to about 220.. so I backed off to 55 and ot ran a few degrees cooler... when I stop and idle for a bit or drive slower in traffic, the temp drops back down nicely to 180 or so...

thre Air-Conditioner is freezing cold in the back... but since the unit is located in the back, it still got a bit warm in the driver compartment until i put blue tape over the outside air intake vents.. even wit hthe hester valves off tons of outside air was blasting in that intake and oiut the defroster vents.. I had the knob turned to recirc on the heaters but my guess is the cable is broken like it was on my carpenter..

with the blue tape on that outer vent, I have to turn the A/C down or I freeze...

yesterday after i got the bus and parked it, i noticed a few drops of oil on the ground.. it checked as full this morning.. all day driving today I havent noticed any oil on the ground, and when I filled up the fuel it showed full still.

im getting just about 10 MPG dead center..

$475 for one used tire? Yeesh. I would expect to pay that for a brand new (not recap) full size truck tire (considering road service charges).

If you've got 2 good tires on the other side, I'd be tempted to put 1 good tire one each side (take the flats off altogether, for replacement later) and drive to a safe place. You're probably not carrying much weight in back, no passengers, so the tires shouldn't be overloaded.

I refused their services. Waiting for shops to open up so I can get all 4 new tires on the back.

where did ypu find the service? from truckdown.com? I think you can rate them if you did...

when I used truckdown for the broken bus earlier this year I was able to rate the service that came as to service and price, etc..

Hey Christopher,

I called AAA and they put me in contact with a 3rd party. But this 3rd party company decided to subcontract another tire guy.

Initially they said 475 for 2 new tires. But then they were used when he showed up.
Then I said okay only fix the blown out tire. But they said 375 for that.

Anyhow, I went to a local shop. Got 1 new one for 185.

I'm not enjoying this at all man.
I might just sell the 7.3L w/110k on it and be done.
Too much emotional rollercoaster!

How did you determine the speed governer vs rpm governer? Also where is the hp stamp?
