Immediately registering as motorhome? (Ontario, Canada)

Hey,

I am in a funny position and due to inexperience with registering vehicles, Im hoping someone who understands it a bit more might be able to help me.

So I have a freshly imported vehicle from the USA to Canada, that I have not had a chance to register due to Covid. This vehicle was last registered as a bus in the USA. The import documents show it as a bus.

I see two options, as of right now. These are:

• Register it as a bus, then immediately change the registration to a motorhome.
• Register it as a motorhome immediately.

Id love to just register it as a motorhome, as registering it as a bus first would just be a technicality. Im also worried about possible emissions requirements or other issues.

My plan as it stands is:

1. Get a safety,
2. Register the vehicle in my name as a bus, as unfit to drive (hoping that allows me to bypass any emissions or other requirements),
3. Change the registration immediately or at another office to a motorhome,
4. Provide the safety to make it fit to drive.

I am probably overthinking this, but if Ive learned anything from my time in dealing with this, its to be prepared.

Curious as to how successful this plan was. I got my bus from Saskatchewan and it is currently unplated, unregistered, unsafetied, and uninsured in my Ontario driveway. What from your experience is the order of steps ahead for me? From research I think it has to go like this:
1. safety
2. register as motorhome
3. plate
4. insure

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
