Insurance agent in California

Looking for Insurance for my trip home with a new bus. 98 6 window, I will remove seats prior to the trip to avoid need a cdl. Can anyone recommend an agent I spoke to Geico, State Farm, Progressive and when the vin is given they all state they do not cover buses. They recommended some small local companies, none of which are open on the weekend.

You need the Progressive Commercial division. You want a commercial for personal use policy. Alternatively you can try National General and tell them you would like insurance while converting. NG takes time though, so it may not work for you. Progressive will do it in an hour.

Yep,
As soon as you turn a screw (with the exception of seat removal) your policy goes void, so try for a short policy, though I think they told me the minimum was a year.

Do you really have to take delivery so fast? It would be most advantageous for you to go right to NG.

No I don’t , but I found a good deal and wanted to jump on it and didn’t want to have to make multiple trips.

Keep looking for that **agent** much better than trying to deal with the standard CSRs at the company direct.

Maybe just for the trip home pay for commercial as personal use

but check out the VT reg as MH option to cover you while doing the conversion, if CA makes that difficult.

An agent familiar with DIY converted vans, camping trailers etc will maybe be OK if you can't find one done buses
