Smile Good Sam

If your conversion is completed, Good Sam will insure your bus conversion. They will want pics.

Insurance experience

We just bought a 1995 IH Bluebird School Bus conversion that is titled in Florida as a motor home. Hartford Insurance had no issues, and includes roadside tow and assistance in its policy. I use Hartford for my cars and was pleasantly surprised at the bus quote and service, reasonable price for comp and collision on the bus as well. FYI

I'm in Tennessee and after conversion was complete I went to the local County Clerks office and they looked at pictures and changed my title to motorhome and then StateFarm looked at the pictures and insured it for liability and uninsured motorist only and as long as I have another vehicle insured there and the bus, oh, um I mean motorhome is a secondary vehicle it only costs $74.00 a year.

In some states National General can insure while under conversion.

The only problem there, if the carrier doesn't insure full timers and you're a full timer, there isn't actually insurance. At the time of a claim the carrier will just deny it due to misrepresentation and void the policy to the original effective date.

I'm glad you were able to get properly insured and didn't have any claims during the time you were defrauding the carrier. That's not me being snide or an asshole, that's what the carrier sees. It's part of the reason it's hard to get insurance and rates are high/coverage is low.

Sorry if I sound like a broken record in this thread, but it's important to me that we do it right.

I defrauded no one. I told the truth and they asked me if I was wanting to live in it.
They said no to living full time.

Use AIS insurance its around 250 a year. The bus will have to be converted first. Then you will need to take pictures from front to back and back to front inside and out.

As mentioned earlier, I don't think I'll need FT coverage, but what new company covered you full time?

Just an FYI because I see many replies citing these companies;

AIS, Good Sam, National General

All the same company.

Hello all again,

So I've tried again with Progressive, arguing with them for the past 4 months trying to get this thing insured and it was always a different story as to why they couldnt insure it, even though 4 of my other friends have the SAME EXACT commercial for personal use policy. I'm done with Progressive.

Someone mentioned a broker or something in this thread but now I cant seem to find the contact info. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

Would this also fall under commercial for personal use? The issue with my vehicle is due to the dimensions it has to be registered as a commercial vehicle regardless. I've called State Farm and Geico, but they're closed today so I have to call tommorow.

I'm not sure. I retitled mine as a motorhome.
