Insurance in Iowa... who insures skoolies?

I could probably read all the posts throughout the years and find my answer, but I don't have that kind of time. I am planning a trip in two weeks and I need insurance very soon! Who insures skoolies in Iowa? About anyone we call does not insure them and this is getting very frustrating. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you, and may the Lord be with you.

Call GMAC Insurance. Tell them you have a School Bus Conversion to insure. They'll cover you with liability at least, and probably sign you up for Good Sam (which is supposedly a discount) while you're at it.

hope this helps,
jim

Jim, it won't be too awfully long before I'll be doing the registration/insurance thing myself, and plan to call GMAC. I'm guessing there's an additional fee for the GS membership? Is there a financial benefit to joining?

Honestly, I really don't know. I get mail from good sams, and toss it in the trash. I get the bill from GMAC, and pay it online.

There's a LOT of paperwork that they send you, most written in insurance-ese, which I don't have a translator for. But, the rates have been so good that I've transferred over all my other vehicles to GMAC.

I *think* I'm a member of GS as a result of this. I just don't know. I believe GS will give you some discounts at some campgrounds, but I don't intend to stay at campgrounds much, so I don't know.

I'm in Iowa and have had my bus covered with State Farm for almost 10 years.
