Insurance Woes

Bus paid for, waiting to be picked up, but nobody seems to have any idea about insurance, including Progressive (aka they won't/don't insure them). All I need is Commercial Liability; i need to move my darn bus from the warehouse! But nobody will insure me to even move the bus in its current non RV form, not to mention once it is converted. My bus will be stationed in Wisconsin (Reedsburg to be exact) and I'm still having difficulty. I've already tried Farm & City Insurance Services, as well as talking to Progressive. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Search for posts about Kelly Newsome on here. She is with All State out of Florida and will find an insurance person in your state who deals with skoolies. I had my policy within a day. She’s amazing

I also got Allstate insurance via Kelly Newsome, but: I was not able to get RV insurance until my bus was registered as a motorhome in Vermont (which took a month and a half for various reasons). I was not able to find any kind of insurance at all before this - "commercial vehicle for personal use" policies are not a thing in PA, and insurance for a school bus proper was ... prohibitive.

State Farm told me they could offer RV insurance if the bus was registered as a motorhome and also they had inspected it themselves to verify that the conversion was complete and all the motorhomey functionality was provided.

Since you're doing a one-time move, I think it's possible to get temporary coverage for a couple hundred bucks.

Mine is liability RV insurance in VA and my bus has not been registered yet. I had no troubles at all with All State.

Progressive and Progressive Commercial are different. You need to contact Progressive Commercial if you want to insure it as a bus. They wouldn't do an RV/Motorhome if I had it re-titled. I just switched to Allstate by going through Kelly Newsome and then a local agent. I am going to save $$!

If you put WISCONSIN in your title you may get leads on a good **local** specialist agent.

Choc,
I got my school bus (yellow, with seats for 89 and warning lights) insured by State Farm before I went to buy it. It was expensive, but all I needed was the VIN and a checkbook.
