Robin,

I know that Oregon requires insurance. It has been a number of years since I registered a rig there. Even though insurance was required they didn't used to ask for proof to register a vehicle. Do they require proof in hand to get tags now?

Insurance has always been a requirement every time I've done a transaction at the DMV. I'm pretty sure that was because there were so many people driving around without insurance. Folks would buy a six month policy, get an insurance card and then cancel their policy for a refund.

The entire system is set up to verify active insurance policies, not just a card, at nearly every step of DMV transactions. Yet we're still being sold uninsured motorist riders.

Do you think progressive would cover new purchases? I only have state required minimum through them on my current car

If you don't ask SPECIFICALLY and just say vehicle, they almost certainly will and then you have plausible deniability at least. When I called USAA that's what I did. They said I'm covered. I'm sticking with that even as I try desperately to get for sure, for that vehicle, PIP insurance before the drive home.

And it's supposed to snow 1-4 feet between now and then. AUUUUUGGHH!!!!!

I just double checked their site, they only ever say your new purchase or vehicle, so bus should be covered. Your new purchase is only covered the same as what you have, so itll just have minimum required coverage. And they say they have a 30 day Grace period. So i should be food without even havig to tell them im buying a bus, or telling them anything really as long as I have my bill of sale with purchase date

For anyone with progressive, here's the info

That was good to know, I didn't even realize they had a grace period. I am picking up my bus Saturday and the storage place I am taking it requires my insurance info in case of any damages. Can I use my existing policy info if progressive covers that car for thirty days?

From what I was told by the state to be a motor home sleeping ,sanitary, and kitchen facilities had to be permenently installed. the reason they told me was because it was harder to use the bus haul loads of people with.

I don't see why not. I wouldn't think the rv lot actually checks to make sure your policy is for that vehicle, I'd assume it was just to have on file in case something happened

Alrighty. I love not felling too rushed through this process.

Keep in mind, I am assuming. I don't know for sure. Someone else may chime in
