I just had a strange thought that I'll explore with my agent on Monday...

Kansas has an automobile insurance program for those who are otherwise not so insurable...for example:
When Progressive dropped coverage on my bus, I didn't worry about it. But when my wife and split, she got the vehicle that we had insured together and I was left without a vehicle and without insurance...for several months. Now that I have wheels other than my bus, I needed insurance, but no "reputable" company would touch me. However, Kansas has some law that if you have a license and vehicle you "someone" has to provide you with at least liability insurance. For my "new" truck...1983 GMC K1500 with a 6.2L NA diesel...it's about $300 a year for liability only. Granted, it's an old truck, but it's somewhat reasonable. I'm going to find out if they'll insure my bus on Monday...and how much it would cost. I'll let you know how it goes.

Ben.

Re: KAIP

In California it's called assigned risk. In the mid 80's when there was no commercial insurance to be had for my business, my agent put me with assigned risk for 1 or 2 years. He found me a separate policy physical damage. Since it was commercial liability insurance, it was very expensive.
