I found that registering it as an RV in RI was very simple. I went to the DMV in Middletown, had all my paperwork in order (TR-1, bill of sale, old registration ect) and I was out the door with new RV plates in 15 minutes.
I know there are a lot of differing opinions about insurance, but for me, I called National General, got a pre-conversion policy for short money, something like $300/year. I will convert to a true RV policy with agreed value once I'm done with the conversion. As always YMMV
