Questions on title and registration (state specific)

So from all my searching all the stuff I've found is older and I've heard from some people and someone I spoke with today that they were able to just go in and tell them they did whatever they did and get their bus registered as an RV.. when I look here and such I see all the posts are older.. so any one know for sure what is required for getting my bus registered as an RV in Michigan? Do I just try as the one person did and tell them this that and the other is done or what.. I really just want to get it done and not have to deal with registering it as a bus in my name now to have to turn around and pay more money to re register it as an RV... Thanks in Advance. I appreciate your time. Hope all are well.

Put your state in the title and you'll get more/better replies

Hi Jordan, I can't help with Michigan-specific info...but in the 3 states in which I've have experience with the type change (truck or bus to RV / Motorhome) they wanted to actually see the conversion items. I understand that Vermont lets you sign an affidavit, but in many states...dare I say most?...you'd have to get it inspected.

It can vary by county, by office, by what the bureaucrat had for breakfast too in some states.

Surest way is ask the people who are going to be doing it.

John61ct is absolutely correct. Every place is different. In Texas it just doesn’t matter until some bureaucrat wants to make up some rule that changes everything. I speak first hand on how the Texas DMV director just arbitrarily outlawed our dune buggies that had been street legal since 1964. It took 2 years to get a law passed to drive them on the roads legally again.

I'm a long time member of AAA and I just drove mine to them for transfer and inspection. I had a sink with a hand pump and what looks to be a shower. I told them I was remodeling and they sent me out the door with a MH title and plates.. Government employees aren't nearly as open minded

Not that I'll be moving to Texas in the near future, but that is good that they "fixed" that law, or interpretation of the law!

I have a VW powered trike, and assume they are now allowed again as well?
What is your feeling on that Phatman, if you know?

Sorry for the thread hijack Jordan7...
