Registering bus as motorhome in WY or NM

Hi Guys,

So I've searched the forums and haven't found any answers to this particular conundrum. I'm planning to form an LLC to hold my bus and WY, NM and DE are the three states where one can do that anonymously (I'm a single woman who'll be out on the road and want as much privacy as possible).

I was going to register it in Vermont, since that seems to be the easiest place to register a bus as a motorhome by mail, but apparently that would void the privacy on my LLC. So now I'm thinking about registering the bus in the state where my LLC will 'live'. Has anyone titled their bus in any of those three states (WY, NM or DE?) and if you have, could you please share how complicated it is. Do I have to physically be there? Can I do it by mail?

Thanks!

I have friends that register non-DOT motorcycles to make them street legal with a tag, by-mail in South Dakota. They may have a similar arrangement with other vehicles?

What is the benefit of doing this through an LLC?

If you do it through an LLC with an anonymous ownership (three states offer this) you can remain anonymous on public records. For some people - I'm thinking mostly of female people who live and travel alone - this can be a safer option. Basically no one can search your registration and find out who you are and potentially where you are.

Also some people register their buses with their LLC because there can be tax benefits to write off.

And some people who live in states with high sales tax do it as a way to avoid paying tax on large purchases - although this appears to be a legal grey area.

You can't legally get that info from a tag.
