State inspection NC

Do you need to get your skoolie inspected like a regular passenger car? I'm in the process of converting our bus now, and getting the VT registration. I'll eventually be switching it over to NC. I know I need to get my car inspected every year here to keep my registration. Is that the same for converted bus's?

yes the only vehicles exempt have to be older than 35 years.
in NC come the end of this year most counties are dropping the emissions test.

I'm wondering if I should just stick with the VT registration for the first year before doing anything else. We're not even sure we'll be in NC a year from now.

in my research for my wifes bus?
little bit of back ground?
she is a traveling lab tech/nurse and she is all over the place so when i get her bus finished it will have to be back in NC at least once a year to get inspected before the registration will be renewed.
it has to be inspected in the state that it is tagged in annually.

For Vermont plates they ask for you to inspect it in Vermont, within 15 days of getting the registration. However the inspection is not tied to registration. So NOT getting it inspected does not prevent getting registration. s long as you have Vermont plates this will remain true. When and if you transfer to another state then you need to find what that state(NC) requires.

I am in Virginia with Vermont plates for 4 years now. Never inspected it.

One minor caveat, if you go to Vermont for a bit you could get a ticket for no inspection, but not in any other state as long as the tags are Vermont.
