Tax rebates for solar installs on skoolies?

So......Have you ever tried asking Google a question and you don't really get the response you are searching for.

I am so glad that I have you beautiful people.

As the title of the thread implies. Has anyone heard of, or recieved a federal or state refund for solar panels, inverters, battries or any associated items installed in a bus?? I was reading a couple other threads and the thought crossed my mind.

I've wondered this myself. Especially if you put in a solar system large enough to run a small home. I'm actually looking at having close to 3000 watts of solar panels.

If you can prove that your bus is your primary residence, then theoretically you can claim federal tax credits for the panels. I don't know if you can also claim for the associated equipment such as charge controllers and batteries - probably not. Some years ago a contributor to the BCM forum who was fulltiming in his Neoplan conversion received the federal tax credits for his bus's PV panels, so it's certainly possible if you can convince the feds that you live 100% in your bus.

A few years ago I installed 2kW of panels on my bus, but I won't be full-timing in it until next year at the earliest, so no tax credits for me!

As I understand it, the rebates covers 30% of the cost of the "system". Batteries, CC, inverter, panels all make up the system.
