plan to just be out and about no special plans for us just living life so if we know far enough in advance to have driving time...we will definitely make it priority to attend!
any new ideas and recommendations are always wanted!

Well, I'm a little skeptical about my drivetrain so I'll say 300mile radius from St Louis anytime schools out for summer.
Oh wait, there's a Midwest Meet the weekend of June 24th at Big River State Forest R.R.I, Box 118 Keithsburg, Ill. 61442 (309)374-2496 hosted by:

danfox lives in DC most of the time; hangs out in New England a weekend every now and then, and whenever he can scrape up a week's vacay. But he ain't got no bus yet.

I'm up for anything within 8 hours of Houston. Just not in August. I have a teaching gig that will take up the whole month.

Dave,
Funny, I was just thinking about researching campgrounds around my area (Tidewater, VA) but the Blueridge is an AWESOME place to camp. While I don;t have my skoolie yet I do make an annual motorcycle trip the length of the Blueridge Parkway in VA and NC. I would move to the area in a heartbeat if I was financially able. The state parks in VA and NC are great for hammock camping too, although due to budget cuts some of the campgrounds are closed along the Parkway. Hold an East Coast event and I'm riding my cycle there!

I would hope that most people that show would be starting out, or thinking about it. Spending a day with the pro's would be a HUGE start, and give you more confidence and ideas than you could imagine. I would be OK with it if 50 people showed up with tents, and got to talk with 3-4 people that know what they are doing, or at least have "faked it" like I have

I work in nuclear power so winter or summer is best for me.
Live in the Phoenix Valley but I drive all the way to NH for work, so I don't care where it is, however,
I don't do snow, or mosquitoes!! I think a minimum of 5 days planned would be good. Most people won't travel a big distance for just a 3 day weekend. It takes me 2 days to get to Chattanooga from PHX.
However............
The Quartzsite Sports, Vacation & RV Show :: Home
(there kinda is one already)
I thought Bansil had some acreage in TN.......?? If you can host bub, I won't leave any beer cans around and Im good for at least 4 bottles of wine admission fee!!!

OK Mary and I will be boondocking at this location for a few days beginning April 16th.
We will be as close to the geo co-ordinates as room allows, a Skoolie is easy to see from the road. A pie plate sign will be posted if needed.
The weather should be mild with cool nights, partial shade for us solar types. It's AZ so bring your ATVs' etc.
More things to see nearby:
Deer Farm & Petting Zoo in Williams AZ by Grand Canyon Railroad Rt. 66 Gifts & Souvenirs
Seligman, AZ.
Grand Canyon Caverns.
Bedrock City AZ.
Grand Canyon RR.
If interested speak up and also PM me for my phone number.
"Build it and they will come".

As much as I would like to explore some of the areas mentioned, right now I am thinking for the first one, we should stick to one of the areas I am very familiar with. I have some priorities to make the first one a success, so I am jotting down some guidelines:
1. open area - ability to accommodate 3-300 campers/vehicles, regardless of size
2. relatively close to resources - water, food, fuel, or hotels if needed
3. easy access for rigs - roads should be accommodating for all sizes
4. little or no regulation - the more rules on-site, the less people
5. free or cheap camping fees - I feel your biggest expense should be fuel, beer, food ( in that order)
Since I spent several weeks in Southern AZ, (Yuma-Quartzsite area) I know EXACTLY what we can get away with, at least in the SW side of the state. The spots I am most familiar with will accommodate 3-300 rigs, no matter the size, and all are close to resources, all have little regs, and most are free.
There is also a great spot outside Joshua Tree California, with almost identical settings.
I will entertain more options, but right now, for the 1st time, I think it might be best to go with what I know, which appears this thing will be west of the Rockies, and maybe east for the 2nd one?
I think making it open is the most important thing, and my experience with "campgrounds" is very poor, and I would NEVER plan anything around a campground, unless it was an open field.
So open is my priority at this point.
What do yall think?

Not to drift the thread too far, but would anyone in the Houston area want to meet-up at RenFest in October? Could be fun to play Merrye Olde England by day, skoolie by night. This would also give multiple weekend possibilities, making a "rolling" gathering possible (different folks different weekends). PM me if interested or maybe we should start a new thread.

Definitely count me in. My bus will be here by then and I'll make sure to keep it in running condition. That's only a 45 minute drive for me. If you start a separate thread please let us know.

I am in Northwest Oklahoma I would be interested in an event in one of the surrounding states. Just got my bus a few weeks ago but I am ready to go. It won't be finished but I would bring it. I would be interested in any local or small events in this area as well.
