BURNINGMAN 2007

who's going?

All plans are subject to change......

right now i'm thinking about leaving the jacuzzi bus at home and riding my motorcycle. I'd like to find some other crazy person to ride along. 2 bikes are more fun than 1. Especially when one gets a flat tire or runs out of gas!

I'm going - but unless I squeeze more magical mileage out of my propane powered bus.... I'll either take my pickup truck, or buy me a Crown. My wife says the Crown won't be until 2008 - so look for my pickup next to Elliot's "Millicent".

Re: BURNINGMAN 2007

I'll be there; should be camped at 6:00 between inner and outer circle, center camp, next to Recycle (unless space gets appropriated for those with more pull). I'm hoping to have an old light plant trailer w/ an AIR-X mounted; prob also mount my solar panels and batteries on the trailer. No time to do anything else. This will be my 13th straight year. Yes, I've seen the Man burn on the ground!!! The wife and I will be doing Theme Camp Placement, and will be on-playa Aug 8th!!

Re: BURNINGMAN 2007

one more thing....

i originally posted that i was gonna take my motorcycle...........i've since decided to take my skoolie instead. Having my own personal swimming pool on playa is just too good an opportunity to pass up.

i'm also planning to take the dreaded Jungo road.

Re: BURNINGMAN 2007

Theme Camp placements have been announced.

Millicent will be at the intersection of 4:30 and Coral Reef -- in the Kinetic Sculpture Racing Camp.

Can we arrange some sort of get-together, where we tour each others skoolies? We could use my camp as a meeting place, since the address is already determined. You will probably all have bicycles, but I'll have extras if need be. We'd plan the shortest route between the participating skoolies, then visit each and heckle each others handiwork

If that sounds like a plan, all we need is to set a day and time.

Re: BURNINGMAN 2007

Well, we are not being overrun with suggestions for a meeting time, so I'll suggest Noon Wednesday -- just as a starting point for discussion.

We wouldn't want to clash with, say, the Billion Bunny March! Thursday and Friday afternoons are already busy. A morning would be fine with me.

Re: BURNINGMAN 2007

just pick a time and i'll see if i can make it. i'm also working some shifts as a paramedic at the burn this year and not really sure what that schedule will be like. Making "plans" at burningman never seem to work out so well for me anyhow.......between not wearing a watch, and not usually having to be anyplace at any particular time, and not having my palm pilot it's near impossible for me to show up someplace on time. (i'll have to wear a watch or something this year so i can do my medic shifts though....)

Just like in any other city of 40.000 with real emergency needs, BM stongly discourages private vehicles from resembling emergency vehicles.

Re: BURNINGMAN 2007

a full LED lightbar and about 16 high intensity strobes would be a lot of fun......if they were Purple or Green it would be different enough from emergency services that it would probably be ok.....but who has the $3K to spend on such toys ??

i love flashing lights...they're fun.

i've been playing around with 3 watt led's, i assume they are the same led's used in police light bars. They're so intense that even using a couple of AAA batteries if it happens to accidentally flash you in the eyes you're blinded for a few seconds after the icident. i am really suprised at how hot they get. After burning for a minute or so the heat sink becomes too hot to touch.

i'll figure out what my address is and post it soon.

i'm with the black rock international burner hostel camp.

Re: BURNINGMAN 2007

i recently became unemployed (like 5 days ago) for the first time in my life.

i feel like one of those retired guys who sais "i'm so busy now that i'm retired i don't know how i ever found time to work"

I have plenty of time to prepare for burningman....there are many projects yet to be completed

things already done:

Fixed air leak in fuel line
Washed exterior
Cleaned the inside
Re-upholstered the interior
made a new better than ever flame thrower mounted on the roof

things yet to do:create a jacuzzi heat exchanger out of an old radiator (condenser actually)
install the new jacuzzi pumps
change the oil
change the gear lube in the rear end
check tire pressure
mount propane cylinders
remove boiler
if time permits, gather soem veggie oil

Any diesel skoolie going from California to Burning Man... Be aware that the Boomtown truck stop in Verdi, Nevada, is closed for redevelopment.

Re: BURNINGMAN 2007

15 and one quarter hours until launch. All systems go.

this is the most prepared i've been for a burn. I would expect to finish packing and have everything ready to go before 6pm. That's 12 hours BEFORE the bus' scheduled departure.

The time is near! I can't wait to get underway.

i'll contemplate making a jacuzzi bus burningman 2007 thread and post along the way almost as the adventure happens. I'll have wireless itnernet so i should be able to post our progress cross-country as it happens. Communications will be suspended for the 9 or 10 days i spend at the burn

wish us luck!
