The law says it need to be composted for 2 years before it can be put back into the earth. So go ahead and try that. Before we came up with laws people used to just **** on the ground like every other animal on the planet. Big deal.

I haven’t seen that law - I enjoy a good poop burial. Avoid contributing to sewage plants.

for what it s worth a friend of mine worked in a sewage treatment plant. At least at the plant he worked at the solids are removed, dried, and composted. Huge mounds of compost.

Milorganite is sold as a natural fertilizer for lawns. This is Milwaukee composted sewage.

Ah ok. If near the bus, I'd just dump it in the compost box.

There's a surprise.

Those are some noisy annoying cats. I want one big enough to eat a medium sized dog. Maine Coon and Norwegian Forest cats are a nice start.

FWIW --- They have been using human waste as compost in Japan on a massive scale for centuries. They call it "Night Soil".

We use it here too.
Commercial potting soil, fertilizer, etc is often made from human waste. I tried out a job at a greenhouse and was sticking Arboricolas is pots. I had to have my hands IN the potting soil all day. Felt something in there and when I pulled it out it was an old tampon. GROSS!

Just bag it up in a black heavy duty garbage bag just like you would a litter box when you empty that....then toss it in a garbage can...

There is a reason why RV manufacturers do not use composting toilets, traditional toilets are better in a RV. Easier to dispose of waste at dump stations.

When you build a bus camper it is worth the extra effort to install a black water tank and a water line for the toilet.

Go online and learn about RV plumbing it is easy to plumb a bus.

All the wild stuff such as solar, wind mills, composting toilets may seem hip but you will not like it in the long run.

Ronnie, I agree with Walt. There is a reason that RVs come with flushing toilets and black tanks. The reason is RV buyers never leave the interstate!!!! It's the Griswolds of the world that ruin everything. They visit Yellowstone for 3 days (during the weekend), leave trash everywhere, and need a dumping station because they are too lazy to use the Starbucks across the street.

Walt,
Plumbing the bus isn't the issue. The weight of an extra tank isn't really the issue either. Hell, even the space needed isn't that big of a deal (for me). The issue is what to do with it when boondocking for 3 months at a time. With a black tank you are forced to use a dumping station somewhere. Pumping that out in some random field? No thx.

I love my solar power - and the composting toilet.
I also like not having electric or water / sewage bills.
But that’s just my preference. I love being in the bus full time - and not have any plumbing issues - or worries of pipes / tanks freezing / cracking.
But to each his or her own. Just because I prefer this does not mean I don’t accept people who would do things differently.
It is easy to hate or disregard that which we do it fully understand.

Some fairly interesting stuff when you read the wiki history of plumbing and sanitation.

I have solar and a composting toilet and I'm quite happy with both.... If you want to carry a tank of 1 and 2 sloshing around with you go ahead but im not...

Say what?!!? Too lazy to go back and look at the pictures at the moment but what are you doing for a sink/shower? A bus without plumbing is a metal tent.

I do remember most of your stuff being modular or movable (not sure what word to use). I do remember you having the toilet but don't recall a shower one way or the other. Pretty sure I would have noticed a lack of sink tho.

I do have a sink - Hooked up to a 15 gallon atv sprayer tank with a small 12v pump. Works well. I also have 5 gallon jugs of water with a hand pump.
I do like to have everything able to move and redo. Overall I only carry 35 gallons of water - and do pretty well at water conservation).

I do not have a shower - though I do have an outside portable camp shower for those rare times when I am stinky. (Mostly I use Planet Fitness or state / county parks for showers) - but I do enjoy going many a day shower-free... and I don’t smell bad (for those stinky haters out there - be jealous). 🤫
