Council Bluffs, Iowa - Rest areas

I went to Council Bluffs Iowa this last weekend, and wow I couldn't beleive the number of people on the highway and local roads that would just turn their heads and stare down at the bus. I saw one kid turn around and just stare so hard he didn't realize that the stoplight had turned green. It was kinda fun to be at the center of their enjoyment. I already knew this was going to happen and it was part of the spark for a skoolie for me, a one of a kind.

And although I didn't use this, it was kinda nice seeing rest areas with dump stations at them. Minnesota don't have them or at least I havn't seen them. I did see no camping signs posted at the rest areas and I'm not sure if they meant overnight parking or just no tent camping. We did overnight at 2 different rest areas over the weekend.

did that rest area have wireless internet access? I've noticed that is a popular thing in iowa as well.

I think just about all the ones I saw had wireless but when I tried it was slower than dial up so I gave up. The ones that didn't have nothing looked like old weigh stations and were for parking only.

Re: Council Bluffs, Iowa - Rest areas

This may sound dumb, but are there a lot of skoolies in Iowa? As I have lived most of my life in Iowa (until very recently), I guess I'm a little shocked.
Are most of the skoolies in Iowa used as RAGBRAI buses and tailgating buses? or do people actually live and/or camp in them?

The longer I'm away to cooler Iowa seems. Go figure.

Being away from Omaha, I think the same thing about Nebraska and Iowa.

I think now most of the buses are used for RAGBRAI and tailgating, it seems all the old buses with the stove pipes coming out the roof are parked in a field rotting.
