Sorry Matthew..
Yes you. Like the way you write things and had hoped to see your take on the misery these thousands and thousands of cows go thru while they are waiting for their demise in the processing plant.
Markydee. thanks. We are out of the area. We saw and heard about it coming . Miserable there. Fortunately we were on wheels and were able to move out of the way.

Yes that is horrible. It was impressive that the weather folks were able to put the warnings out two weeks ahead of time.

I've found that the forecasters in Oklahoma are better at their jobs than the forecasters here in Indy. NWS people ( http://weather.gov) fall in-between.
Since I grew up in Oklahoma, in some cases I've been better at predicting the weather here in Indy than the Indy people (just by looking at the sky). However, I always ended up expecting stronger storms than what actually hit....

the weather warning systems seem to vary as do how people heed them.. people in oklahoma have seen and know what bad weather can do... here in ohio (and im guessing indiana) they get complacent and ignore warnings.. or as in the case of dayton ohio monday even get mad that their favorite TV shows got interrupted for weather info...
we had 15 confirmed tornados in ohio monday night.. a friend and I watched that system form over indiana .. I had my 2 meter (im listen only) tuned to the weather net band and had police radio on here in columbus as our sirens went off I wanted to know where things were...
so while people in ohio are complaining about their TV shows getting interrupted even though their neighbors are getting smashed with an EF3... It seems the people in oklahoma are getting safe!.. fortunately in ohio many homes have basements but it still takes paying attention to sirens and warnings when they go off!

Holy cow!
Whups, my bad. I didn't track the cognitive connection with comprehensive cow carnage. Alternative names? Lessee,
Feed Lot... Slaughter House... Abattoir... Bossy's Bovine Blood Bath...
Yanno, I like your, "Cow Nirvana," much better! It offers a glimmer of hope that, where ever the non-meaty part of them goes, that they're going is a much better place.
And, just maybe, we're actually doing them a favor by hurrying them along. Expediently dispatched by a high pressure, hydraulic bolt blasted between their head lights, herding them to that next level, while also getting to enjoy a nicely marbled Porterhouse steak, fresh off the grate.
Doubtful said Bossies are particularly grateful for the early retirement into reincarnation...
There really isn't any way to put a shine on the conditions necessary to profitably execute a facility designed to execute hundreds of large herbivores on a daily basis.
At least, unlike beef raised to be veal, one can only hope they had a good life; free grazing under an open sky; watching good Moovies, getting their hooves done, enjoying daily cow coffee and cud klatches, scoring some sweet Alfalfa...
Before getting Spanky'd by the horrific realization of the truth regarding their fates, dawning upon them in that blazing, hard trammeled Moo-schwitz...

Delivery in 30 minutes, or it's free!
Since it took me about 45' or so to write, not figgering on remuneration...

Glad to hear it was well received. I do empathise with the poor beasties' plight, and tried not to make light of it.
But freely give me a free rein to put a little English on the cue ball, and I'll see what sort of funky spin I can impart on it.
Makes me feel ever so much better about having shirked the things that I should've been doing at the time...

"Bossy's Bovine Blood Bath" That was funny! I don't know why but that just did a big wack on my tickle bone. Best laugh I've had all day!

Thank you all for your contributions. Our trip thread made it over 10000 views. Not that means anything but is kind of satisfying that my reports and scribbles were read.
By now it is 14 may in my logbook.
We left the Shawnee wally and took 177 north. Just before hitting I44 we took the 66 to slow our return to PA down. Back on I44 at Sapulpa. After Tulsa we picked 66 up again. Then 60 all the way to Springfield.
Springfield's wally does not allow overnight and we were booted. Stayed at the parking lot next door.
In the morning we visited the BassPro and bought some guns...for the kids.. It was fun watching the alligators and went thru the NRA sponsored sport weapon museum inside the Brass Pro. Not sure how the statue got mixed into this ..but it was there.
Then we drove to the last rest area before St.Louis.
I am adding again the pic of me using a military surplus cooling vest . I cool it with ice water flowing thru the blue hose. Normally the mils use in tanks and helicopters.
From here on the weather forecast got ugly .

We are almost at the end of our trip... Like usual travel speeds up a little when you are smelling the nest.
We raced thru Indianapolis minutes before they closed down I70 for construction.
Our last stop was the air force museum in Dayton.
Even found a flying saucer..
Then in the late afternoon Christopher came out from Columbus with his bus and we met at a nice Pizza place Marions. Thanks Chris for making the drive.
We had a great time with Chris, me and Rosie hanging till 11pm in the parking lot next to our busses. We probably resolved the world's problems right there and the ...
I wanted to drive during the night thru Columbus.
Slept in a rest area along I70 after we made it thru Columbus at 2 AM.
And yes we made it home to state college around 4 PM.

Too bad you raced through Indy. My family would have enjoyed meeting you, and you could have always diverted around the I-70 construction on I-465. Besides I-465 is much better than I-70 thru downtown....

Yes Sorry MarkyDee, I did a poor job checking out other skoolie members location and contact them before we would be in the area.
Also this thread runs by now 2 weeks behind the actual date so it does not give readers a time to respond so that we could have modified our plans.
The I70 thru Indianapolis was kind of fun seeing the road crews pulling onto I70 next to us and shutting it down behind us.

Eh, don't worry - just means we'll have to meet up some other time. Maybe I'll have our bus up-and-running by then.... ;) ;)

I thought Indy just closed I-70 thru downtown this weekend.... Eh, since I don't use that stretch of i-70 very often I guess I'm "behind the times"....

And the ones behind the road crews were snapping their fingers saying "Ahhh, day late and dollar short!"

Yep, all over, we could have easily made it a year or more by going more north.. oregon and on but.. we did not.
The first couple of days in our house were strange. So we took Dory for a one night stand in the woods.
We have some short camping trips in the area planned.
Some statistics:
Dory weight loaded; 7500 lbs front...15200 lbs drive and 4000lbs jeep. That was loaded with 100 gallon fuel and 40 gallon water.
Solar 900 watts
inverter 2500 and 3500Watt pure sine
fridge Dometic 12/24 volt
freezer box 12 Volt
electric shower head 2700 watt
2 induction cooking tops
house and starter batteries are combined 2 pieces12 8D in series for 24 Volt.
Floor heat with webasto 17TSL.
AC Thermoking not operational at this moment.
Engine MBE906 pre EGR 420000 Miles 300HP
Transmission B300R 5 speed with retarder 6th gear not unlocked yet.
2000 RPM at 55 MPH in 5th
Trip time 4 Jan 2019 to 19 May 2019
Deadline motivation Skoolie Palooza 18 Jan 2019
Total trip miles 9300 miles.
Total fuel 1150 gallon
Average...... not as good as I expected.
Motor oil 1 gallon
Transmission oil 0
coolant 1.5 gallon
hydraulic 4 guarts
2 new front tires on jeep after blowout
2 new 8D batteries just to have a " new" reference.
1 new hydraulic valve for cooling Fan.... ebay. new $125
Thank you all for keeping me motivated to update this trip report. It is fun reading all over it again.
My excuses to the people for the questions in some of the posts that I forgot to reply to.

Hi sledd..,
We love it.. We run a recirculating shower. That is 3/4 gallon in the shower pan. small sump pump takes it thru a UV filter then thru the heated shower head and so on. After 10 minutes of soap we stop the pump and heater and drain the 3/4 gallon of water. Repeat with clean water. It takes about 30 seconds before the water is warm.
