also a big fan of freecampsites.net, ive used it many times and it'll be a staple when the bus is finished and we hit the road

I use that site all the time!

Also, fwiw, the Forest Service or BLM local office is almost always extremely helpful. Just ask about "dispersed camping" and they'll usually give you maps and tips.

Area Summary

I-49 South of Kansas City. Exit 116 from the north onto TT 4 miles south of RICH HILL and the east till pavement quits then make immediate left and then about 2 miles on the left. DON'T Drive past unless you want to back out.

Quiet and you will hardly see another vehicle. Primitive/Clean handicap toilets. No running water. No fire rings permitted. Level gravel road for the last 2 miles.
Might be deer and duck hunters in season. Free for 14 days and a total of 30 per year.
