Wow! 2020 has been quite a year, wouldn't you say? However, in spite of all the challenges we have faced collectively this year, I am encouraged by the fact that what this Thanksgiving holiday marks is the beginning of the end of the year, a season when people pause to reflect and reassess and renew that sense of goodwill towards one another. I think we could all use a little bit of goodwill to finish up this year on a positive note.
The reason this holiday is the turning point in our collective emotional well-being is because it is a holiday focused upon gratitude. When we're feeling like life is getting the better of us, the answer isn't just to be happier but instead to be thankful ... because joy does not bring gratitude, but rather an attitude of gratitude is the secret to joy. Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all others.
I know Thanksgiving is primarily an American holiday and this forum is international but I think we can all appreciate the value of taking time to appreciate those in our lives, count our blessings, and re-orient ourselves in order to begin 2021 on the best footing. Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

Happy Thanksgiving to all,
Thank you Sehnsucht for recognizing and appreciating the international aspect of the population in the USA.
I am Dutch by birth and my better half is from India. Besides that I am the vegetarian.. so no .. but nevertheless a Thanksgiving feast.

Happy thanksgiving everyone! I love you all! (Not in a gay way...) This is a great forum. Overall there is an awesome amount of respect. My wife and I are thankful for what we have which is just each other.

Many happy returns as I prepare (with fingers crossed) to begin my journey for a skoolie delivery. Insurance for the bus is still up in the air, and while I pay no penalty if I never pick up the rental, the rental car's price will likely be different if I have to change dates or rebook altogether. And I need to get out of the house in the worst way, pandemic or not. By myself in a car 12-18 hrs at a time, by myself in a bus for 11 hrs at a time, by myself in a hotel room for 8-10 hrs at a time, I really don't think the risk will be that great.
At this late juncture in 2020, the only turkeys I'm interested in seeing disappear are the ones in Congress.

Wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!
While we are not having a traditional day, we can still take a pause to be thankful for the things we care about.

What beautiful thoughts from all of you - and agreed - so hopeful that we all emerge from the suffering that came with 2020 with a deeper and greater sense of wisdom, strength, compassion, and connection to what truly matters (and disconnection from what does not). Learning this is most definitely something to be grateful for! <3

How could I have allowed such an auspicious day pass w/o sharing the day?
Happy Birthday, Johannes Bach!!!
I kid.
Of course, we celebrated Alypius the Stylite's feast day on the liturgical calendar...
.
.
Just wanted to relay that I'm thankful to have y'all on my world, so I went for baroque.
