Hello Maine.. Are you there?

Hi all! Especially "hi all" to you Mainers.. Mainites? Maine folk...

So it looks like we have a wedding to attend out around Wiscasset, Maine this summer and are hoping to take the bus, time permitting. There appear to be a couple of state parks within ~30 miles of the town which could suit us ok, but we really don't need the (or want) the amenities. Do any of you know of any state forests, wildlife management areas, etc in that area that allow camping?

I'm not sure around Wiscasset but the numerous inlets and fishing villages have plenty of secluded spots. Try asking someone to post a request on the bulletin board at the Miss Wiscasset Diner.

Great! Thanks for the tip.

After looking around a bit more online I'm starting to lean towards Chewonki Campground. It costs more than I'd like to pay for the amount we'll be using it, but the wedding after-party will be at the Montsweag Roadhouse which is only a 15 minute walk. That would be a nice arrangement.

I have not been to Chewonki but my friend's parents have camped there every year for a long time now. The people watching will be worth it and a 15 minute walk from the reception is ideal. Have fun.

I'll be booking our time at Chewonki Campground soon (once I figure out our exact dates). Does anyone know if they're skoolie friendly?
