I can't believe I made it from MI to NC
I just wanted to take this opportunity to praise my skoolie. Last month I had to move from Michigan to NC for a new job. As none of my moving expenses were covered, renting a U-Haul was out of the question. But I just happened to have this old bus that I'm in the middle of converting so... presto! Instant moving van! The thing is a 1968 Chevy Wayne, 5spd with a 1980 Chevy 350 smallblock.
Well it needed a bit of repair first. The carburetor was not the right fit for the engine so it backfired and exploded the mufflers (and my ears) when I started it the first time this season. But a couple new mufflers, brand new 4-barrel carb, and we are ready to go!
Did I mention the top speed is about 55... downhill? It took 17 hours over 2 days, packed full of my stuff, creeping up mountains (and down as well... no air brakes!). Oh and it was literally the hottest week of the year, over 100 degrees when we arrived. Used a lot of gas, but not a single problem was had!
Now where the heck do I park it? I didn't think of that...
All hail skoolies!!
