Illinois we're comming!

Hi skoolies, due to our issues with insurance we now have to head directly to IL to Register our bus and obtain our plates. We would love to explore the state a little as well as spending some time in Chicago city itself.
Looking for any recommendations for places that are skoolie friendly to camp out, prefer cheap/free but happy to pay inside Chicago itself.
If you have any suggestions for 'must see' places we would love to hear them.
We are from overseas so this is all a new discovery for us,

From what I know about resgistering as an RV in Illinois its not the easiest. But as far as places to stay goes:

Downtown Chicago: Chicago McCormick Place Marshalling Yard

One of the best state parks: Starved Rock Parks

I LOVE the chi town... chillin at the Hang-uppe ..stayin in an air-BnB on rush... or at the nice 4 seasons hotel... great vibe in that city

If you need a place to stay for a night or so, I'm kinda between Cleveland and Chicago, just off of US 24 in Indiana. Closest town is Andrews 46702
