Leander Texas here we come for the April Eclipse!!

We are heading to Leander Texas area in April for the Eclipse. Been planning it for over a year and its finally getting closer and we have our travel plans finalized. Its going to be a 16 day 4,000 mile epic round trip from southeast Idaho to Texas and back with stops at Carlsbad, Leander, San Antonio, Fredericksburg, Mineola, (quilt store) Shreveport (family) Hamilton MO (another quilt store) Lincoln NE (more family) and then the yucky drive back home across I-80 through Wyoming. There will be 9 of us travelling in our partially converted bus. The excitement is starting to build! Anybody else have a big eclipse trip planned?

My wife and I had hoped to have our bus ready for the April trip as well, been planning it for a year but the dealership had it too long fixing the engine issues. it's back with us now but not enough time. We may just end up driving to Texas in our Silverado truck instread.

There will be other adventures.

I was just going to fly in to see it, but I'm having second thoughts given the likely crowds. Authorities are recommending locals stock up on food and medicine for the week before and after.

My first thought was Mazatlan, actually.

Wow, I feel Lucky, I will already be there for the Eclispe as I now have a home in Central Texas!

This website has a map and a time chart for when and how long the solar effects will be felt.

I am in Killeen and it is estimated that the effects should begin around 1:30 ish pm central time and last just over 4 minutes.

If anyone is traveling toward the area I can offer free parking/hangout/camping space at my shop.

I got 4 acres, no hookups, but it is safe area to park your unit.
Got shop/tools too if you need emergency repairs.

Yeah there are no guarantees of clear skies for the eclipse for sure, we have other things planned besides the eclipse so if its cloudy we will still have a fun trip. The eclipse will be the highlight of it. The 2017 eclipse went right over our farm and we ended up setting up camping spots for it and had over 300 people from all over the world come stay at our place. It was a great time! After seeing how cool that one was we decided we wanted to go see the one this year and my brother lives by Shreveport so we thought Texas would work good then we can go visit him after. Road trips are fun!! The pic below was 2 mornings before the 2017 eclipse as people were starting to arrive. https://youtu.be/13DGm4T0ing?si=fnv8TSQFv45rWn6o
