Re: Out In The Bus
Two weeks ago I went to the California Southern School Bus Roadeo and this weekend traveled up to Galt for the Northern Roadeo. Galt is a small town about 25 miles south of Sacramento, so the round trip for the bus was about 550 miles. 312,600 miles on the odometer when I got home and she still runs great...about 9.8 mpg on this trip. The pic is of the Galt Flea Market parking lot where the roadeo was held. I spent the night there. Pic makes it look like the Crown is in prison

Re: Out In The Bus
Just returned home from four beautiful days at the central California coast in Oceano. Nice to get away from the 106 degrees here in Bakersfield and go only 130 miles and have to put on a coat
Stayed at a small San Luis Obispo County Park right near the ocean. My dogs Bob and Sara Lee, and my cat TC had a great time and so did I. It was nice to get the Crown out on the road again No problems and smooth sailing over the mountains.
Oceano Campground
My cat TC watching all the birds
TC likes the top of the drivers seat

Re: Out In The Bus
Great to see trip pics! That is such an awesome looking bus you've got. I'm glad to hear there were no mechanical problems. With a bus that old, you must have replaced just about everything that is likely to fail. My bus is a 1996 model and I just had a brake line fail due to rust.
I'm always fascinated when I see cats traveling in vehicles. I think it would be cool to have one of my cats in the bus for a trip, but I would be afraid they would get out and bolt and I'd never see them again. How did you train yours to not do that?

Re: Out In The Bus
DD...TC, the cat, has been camping in the bus since he was just a little kitten, so I guess he is used to being inside. He does really well, except when we are moving and then he hides under the couch
My bus was in legal service up until 2005, so it was well taken care of by our local school system. I drove it when it was new in 1976 in my 3rd year of being a driver, and it stayed with the same district for it's whole school bus life. Since I have had it, I have changed the oil and filters regularly, put two new 8D Batteries in it, and two new tires on the front. Beyond that, KNOCK ON WOOD, no mechanical problems of any kind. It really is a testament to the preventative maintenance a shop can give a vehicle.

Re: Out In The Bus
In my youth there was a great cartoon on Saturday mornings. It was called Top Cat. On the show, his cat friends called him TC.

It's not what I would call a nice shade tree. It's sad. I had a huge old male persimmon tree with a 60 ft canopy in our last yard in TN. That was a nice shade tree.

Re: Out In The Bus
Got a chance to take the Crown out on the road again this week, to the Central California Coast in Oceano. Four nice days of relaxation and drinking beer Had a good time doing nothing and enjoying the skoolie in the wild...well...with the other RV'ers
On the road through the coastal mountains to the beach!
The gulls, ducks, and others
The Brown Crown
My cat TC (the black one) and my new cat Venus. TC is watching for birds.
My dog Bob and Venus relaxing
The campsite
A good campfire...very nice to enjoy needing one since the Bakersfield summer was brutal with heat as usual
