Overnight parking at Wal-Marts while on the road

I am looking to take my bus on a trip down to southern Florida and then back up to the panhandle and cut across the gulf coast to the Houston area. Wherever possible I want to overnight drycamp as inexpensively as possible.

I am guessing that most Florida communities ban overnight parking at Wal-Marts but does anybody have recent experience to confirm or refute that? If so, where? How about across the other gulf coast states?

I was told a few years ago due to abuse walmart no longer allows over night stops at their stores in Florida.

I stay over night at rest areas but not longer than 8 hrs, all rest areas have guards also.

i've found very few wal-marts that do not allow overnite parking. Sam walton was a big fan of RV's. The ones that do not allow overnite parking will have signs

Of all the walmarts that are around me there is only one that I have seen with the no overnight signs up, but I think it said something about a city law on the sign. This was in Apple Valley MN. But the other stores near by don't have anything posted.

One thing I don't like about walmarts is the lights on the light poles shine in the windows. When I was younger we as a family would go on rv trips and my dad would park in a lot of church lots since they would have either no lights on or they would be shut off in the middle of the night. Other spots he would pick would be shopping mall parking lots but a good chunk of them would have local police patroling their lots at night and some of them would ask us to move on while some others could care less since you are parked there to rest and are not bothering anyone.

Wal-Mart's policy is to allow overnighting in their lots. If they don't, it's due to a local ordinance.

There is a camper at the Wal-Mart in Duluth that has been there for 6 months since I've been keeping track. They run their gen-set when they need to, have a big hose and a water tank in the toad, etc. I don't know if they have some special arrangement or what, but that particular Wal-Mart sure seems accepting.

When we took our CA trip there was only one Walmart that didn't allow overnights and it was a city ordinance. Never been into FL with one, though.
