Some Thousand Trails Rv parks will allow bus conversions and some won’t. You have to call each to find out or just show up and see... You could also just use the bus as your “car” and set up a tent as your sleeping quarters if you want to get around the rules (haven’t tried it yet). I’ve been a long time Thousand Trails member with my regular RV’s but only tried a few in the last few years since getting my bus. Las Vegas allows conversions and another in Oregon I can’t remember the name of. There’s a second in Oregon that hassled me about it and one in North East Washington that hassled me (close to Spokane). I might’ve tried more this summer but border is closed...

I haven’t had any problems with campgrounds in Alberta.

And it should only be the private owned parks that will frown at us, State/provincial/federal parks shouldn’t be a problem as far as I know.

If your bus is orange/yellow I think you’re more likely to have a problem in general.

The RVIA is just a bunch of BS - their standards are useless. As far as I can tell it’s an organization for making money and keeping new RV manufacturers out of the business. It’s not like they will inspect our buses and give us a sticker because they won’t, no matter how well it’s built.

I’ve thought of starting my own RVINA (RV manufacturers of North America) and printing stickers to pass around. If you tell me it’s a motorhome and send me a picture of your bed I’ll certify it and send you a shiny sticker. Lol.

IT'S EASY TO GIT YOUR BUS CERTIFIED!!!

Go find a junk parts POS RV or parts POS Motorhome with a "RVIA" (Recreational Vehicle Industry Association) Certification Emblem on the trailer or motorhome. The emblem is typically located and riveted to the RV near the entrance door.

Remove the emblem.

Install emblem on your Bus and your are NOW CERTIFIED!

That's all they are looking for!

I am not saying that you should edit the "0000000" into some random number and print this out and stick it on your bus, because that would be wrong. But you could do that.
