San Francisco RV free parking

Hi everybody, we are Alessandro and Simona, two italian guys, we are here in San Francisco since 10 days and we have just bought a schoolbus from the Chevron to convert it into and RV, we need a place to stay, a place to park the bus and work on it, we have contacted all the camping areas but they all have crazy rates so we are looking for a free parking area here or near the S.F. bay. Could you help us? Anyone Know about some places where we can have elecricity and some water?
Please help us!

How do I reply without sounding snotty? Do you have free parking in the Vatican or Manhattan? I didn't think so. Rent for a studio is upwards of $2000 per month. There is no free parking. Only suggestion is to find street parking out in the Sunset near the park. Be very low key. READ THE PARKING SIGNS! Tickets are expensive and if you get towed, you are probably looking at $2000 to get your bus out of impound. Don't stay in one place, make sure you move often.

If you can, get out of the bay area all together. I realize this may not be an option if you work there already. But the fact of the matter is, population density there is very high. This means people are already sick of all the people in their way every day. You will continue to run into problems because of this, and many people will see your 40 ft piece of metal as an eyesore and think you're just some druggie low-lifes and attempt to make your life more difficult by reporting to you police and whatnot.

That said, there are actually some really cool people in the bay too. Many of the old hippies from the 60s got real jobs, and didn't lose sight of their old values. You might get lucky and find someone who will let you park on their property, but its a long shot.

Now if you were to leave the city, head to a more rural area it would be a lot easier to find a situation like this. When everyone isn't packed into a tiny area, they are generally happier, friendlier and more willing to help strangers. You might consider looking into WWOOF, which is a work exchange organization where you can volunteer your time on ogranic farms in exchange for room and board. Might meet some genuinely good people in the process.

If you stay in the rat maze, don't be surprised by the occupants.
