Schoolie map

Just because someone hasn't posted in a while doesn't mean they are not members. Post all members please.
I still come here a lot and read.

I don't want to leave anyone off of the list, but there are over 3000 members. I just went down the member list. Many don't have a location listed in their profile. I had to have some sort of cut off for what I was doing. I didn't include anyone with only 2 posts or who hadn't posted anything in the last year. I am quite happy to include anyone who asks by way of this thread. There were some names who used to be quite active and I would love to have included them, but are they still alive? Do they still have a bus? I also didn't include anyone who doesn't have a bus listed in their profile.

Hey moderator, any way to directly imbed the code on either the site or a post so that members can just click on the post to see the map?

You're still there, there are three on that one push pin, I tried moving them apart, but didn't get them far enough.
I do a search for coordinates using the city, if there are more than one for a city they end up on the same pin. I'll work on moving them a bit farther apart.

crazycal,
I could do that. I have some code that will make at the very least into a clickable thumbnail, don't seem to be able to do anything with html on this site

I fixed the problem of multiple names in some cities. Bear in mind I have no idea of where you actually live, I just moved the markers farther apart for those cities with more than one name. Deal with it, unless you want to give me your real coordinates. I thought it would be fun to see how things spread out on a map, I'm easily amused.

You may have very well created a Monster here. I think many of us wanted this for along time now.

Too bad there wasn't a way we could enter our own info, I'm afraid you will be bombarded more & more as people find out about this map.

I tried to see about getting threads by state and Janet just told me to do a search on members name.

Anywho,

It's nice to see the number of people & locations of "where the crazies live"

It's not really that hard. Just entry's on a spreadsheet, city and state is easier than zip code. Zip makes extra steps

LOL.....I just clicked on "REB336" here in Georgia to see where they were located and it said Athens (which is maybe about 30 miles or so from me).

When I double clicked it took me to a Google map of Athens Greece. I didn't notice at first but thought the surrounding cities where written in a language I couldn't read.

Map

WOW, I never realized that we had so many members. What might be cool is to have a way you can type in your location, and a mile radius and it would show all the members in that area. . Keep up the good work friend.

There was an earlier Skoolie.net map using some Google map product that was discontinued. People put in their own markers and information on that one. I did save the .kmz file during Google's end-of-life warning (attached), and it will open on Google Earth. I had to change the extension to .pdf to get it to attach to this message. If you want to use it, delete the .pdf extension and rename it skoolie dot kmz.

Yes please continue this. General city info is good so people cant stalk. Unless they go searching for the skoolie lol

i gotta update my info!!! first CHI CITY bus woot woot!
BWHAHAHAhahaha!

When I have time to waste, I sometimes look for clues in the background of photos or in stories to find buses or their homes on Google Earth. Of course, some post a street address or Google photo with latitude and longitude in the frame.

A few locations I have found:

Accordion (Rudy) - clue: bridge in driveway, barns, name of restaurant in nearby town
Autumn (found actual bus, not seen on Google Earth) - clue: name of town, stripe in center line not present on town roads. only state & county routes
Bansil - clue: name of town, no bus, but trees beside lower driveway and power pole
DasMel - gave address (or Lorna did)
Hex - clue: side street neighbor parks on sidewalk by garage
LornaSchinske - gave address
Malkieri's conversion lot - clue: car dealership down the road
milkmania - clue: gave aerial photo with county route numbers nearby
