That appears to be a Carpenter. I think the model was called a Cadet. It has been a long while since I have seen sales literature on Carpenter buses that identified all of their models.
That bus is built on a GM P-30 chassis. If it has the 10-hole wheels with 5-studs in front and 10-studs in the rear it will have a GVWR of about 14,000 lbs. If it has the 8-hole wheels it will have a GVWR of about 12,000 lbs.
The small block 350 gas V-8 with the Turbohydramatic 400 is a nice economical power package but it runs out of steam with a full load at highway speeds. A nice upgrade would be to add a throttle body injection unit on it to add drivability, power, and economy. Another nice upgrade would be adding a 4L80 mechanical transmission to get some extra gears, overdrive, and lock up convertor.
