Looks like you have a nice little platform to work with. I've been considering that type of bus if I can't find a short Bluebird TC2000 Handibus like this one...

If you get a chance, keep track of your gas mileage. I am very interested to know how good (or bad) the MPG is on that type of bus for both short and long distance hauls.

Good luck and have fun with the conversion!

Thats a pretty distinctively shaped bus, does that bullhorn still work? Where in Oregon are you? Angie and I are trying to stop in Portland sometime in April, if your nearby and have room for another shortie I could lend you a hand on your build.. Our thread is here: viewtopic.php?f=36&t=10457 Have fun! I miss the building phase...

Not many people like the 6.2 diesel. I had one in a suburban that I really liked, I got great mileage with it. I wouldn't want to tow anything too heavy with one.

I've been trying to convince myself that I need a custom paint job from you, but my budget certainly can't afford anything more than me painting my bus with tractor paint.

I won't be towing anything heavy, and I'm not in a hurry to get anywhere.

I've got everything out of the bus now, including the driver's seat.

In my opinion, it would be best to have the fuel fill line shield in place.. you dont have to use the original one, you can make your own of you choose. The reason is that if you ever have to remove the fuel tank, you might need a little room for the fill line, in the removal and instillation process. Its not likely you will remove the tank, but it's possible.

The cheap acrilic enamel for equipment from the industrial finishes place, is good paint. Not only that, you can buy a dark color, and some white and make blends of dark to light, and you can buy clear coat and gradually mix more and more clear in to make a shiny and durable surface that will last for years. We painted one of my friends Suburban that way as a test 8 years ago, and it still looks like a basecoat-clearcoat job with no peeling or paint problems. This vehicle is in east salem.

You can also buy the paint online at the paint for cars place - either on ebay, or their site. I have bought many gallons of the red colors, because it is a lot cheaper than industrial fininshes - even with shipping. the paint for cars stuff is also good. We have painted many trailers and two drag race cars with it, and clear coated the cars as we did the final coats.
