Re: 1995 Ford Eldorado Shuttle bus

Hello boy's and girls,

How was your weekend?

Here in our small Belgian country the weather was great so I did some work on the bus!

Saturday I bought some stands to lift the bus completely from the ground.
This way I can put the wheels off to see if the brakes are dry and also to look if the brake shoes are in a good or bad condition.

Re: 1995 Ford Eldorado Shuttle bus

I am going to order these wheel hubs or simulators on Ebay.

Those will look great on the bus I guess.

The seller said to me that these hubs will fit on my wheels.
I hope he is right about that ! !
LOL

Re: 1995 Ford Eldorado Shuttle bus

Sunday I did some wheel work.
Everything went good.
I've lifted the bus and placed the stands under the chassis.

The nuts and the rims came off good.

I am going to find an adress to sandblast the wheels and add a black powder coat to the rims so they last a long time.
When my chrome wheel simulators arrive, they look will look as new.
It is cheaper than buying new rims isn't it?

I was pleased that the brakecylinders, brake shoes and the brake drum were still in a good condition.

After airblasting the rear brakes, I had eaten soo much brake dust that I had to drink some flavorised water.

Hello Nat,
Yes it's in my garden on the driveway in the back.
We did not have a winter this year.
It was raining for about 2 months.

I hope we are going to have an early summer.

The front brakes are also in a good condition.
Is is a bit rusty but that is neglectable.
The discs are not worn and beside the rust they look as new.

Re: 1995 Ford Eldorado Shuttle bus

This afternoon I dissasembled the old airco.
I cut the hoses and disconnect the electrical wires.
There was no more gas in the hoses so that makes everything easy for the moment.
Removed the white cover to see the connecting bolts and nuts.

We see that we have a water leak from the roof.
I will have to repair that also.
Tomorrow I'll tape the holes for a moment and repair it with some new polyester or a fix all kit.
As long as it closes the hole for the time.

The ventilation- and/or emergency hatch goes also !
I replace it for a new plexi top window.

The new ventilation window is bigger and will let more light in the bus.
It has a shade and a moskito net build in.

Re: 1995 Ford Eldorado Shuttle bus

After removing the airco on the inside I am going to check out what is under the white ceiling.
I want to have some aluminium sheets against the ceiling and walls.
Now I can see how the sheets should be attachet best ways

Hahaha,
Yes Nat,
To translate from flemish to english is sometimes difficult but we'll manage.
I'll keep the picts coming as long as I am working on the bus.
Later I'll take picts from the toeus we make but that's still a long time away.

It is almost 02.00am over here.
I think I'm going to bed.
Normally I do night shifts but today the sun was shining and that was a good thing to work a little bit on my toy.

It's a beautiful day again so I'm going to work al little bit more on the bus.
I'll clean up the inside a bit because it is messy.
See you all later.

Re: 1995 Ford Eldorado Shuttle bus

Seeing your pictures takes me back to when I was stripping my bus. Yours looks nearly identical to mine.

I'd definitely suggest that you remove the inner window trim rings and strip off the side wall fiberglass trim panels also. Once they're out you can check the body around the window cut outs for water damage from leaks around the windows. If water gets in between the inner and outer body panels it can ruin the corrugated "filler" between the panels and leave you with floppy walls. I had to repair about 5 feet of one side where water had seeped in at the wheelchair lift door over the years and separated the panels under the windows. The job was technically interesting but not much fun.

Six of my fourteen windows also had leaks between the window frame and body so I resealed all of them. A fairly easy job.

Roof leaks can come from the exterior trim pieces where the body sections come together. I used a Dicor RV roof sealant to seal all of them and so far no more leaks.

I like the new sky light window!

Re: 1995 Ford Eldorado Shuttle bus

Hello my friend,
Yes the fiber glass is coming off.
I wil do that tomorrow.
It will give me a template to make new window holes in the aluminium.

I just did one this afternoon to see if the screws were coming out well.
Pics are uploading right now.

I just did some cleaning up and take some mesurements for the new aluminium windows and ceiling.

It will replace the old escape hatch.

Maybe I place 2 of them.
I am also thinking about placing a solar panel to charge my 2X 125 amp battery's and give feed to my refrigerator and deep freezer.

Re: 1995 Ford Eldorado Shuttle bus

As said,
I did a little bit of cleaning up and looked at some ideas of interriors from trailers and big RV's.
Tomorrow I remove the inner window trim rings as Roach told me to do and remove the white plastic wall trim panel.

Here is my new L.P.G. stove on the side.
We did not have to use it this winter because it didn't freeze at al.
It gives a nice warmth and it needs no chimnee.
You can use it where you want.
