Wazzup? --- Have not been able to log in for the past couple of days. The system insisted my PW was invalid??? Very frustrating and I was starting to go into Skoolie withdrawal. Just hope it stays up for a while. Who knows...maybe passwords wear out after five or six years use.

Anyhow, good to be back. Not much has been going on here what with "Harvey" breathing down our necks. Looks like it will hit well South of here but bring Biblical flooding all the same. So what else is new? Hey...this is South Texas...hurricanes, tornadoes and flooding are just part of life. Been there, done that for many decades. It's usually the newcomers who panic and drown.

My street will almost certainly see 4-5 feet of water but that's fairly common. Even without a named storm. Will try to get some pix of stuff floating by my door.

So...best of luck and stay above water my fellow Houstonians. Here we go again.

Every time we read about your street filling with that much water, I wonder: are all the properties/buildings along the street built up high enough that the water stays out, or does having the water waist-deep in the street mean it's at least knee-deep and rising inside? Seems like it'd be a real problem to have building walls and interiors filling with water like that routinely.

My building is dock high plus a couple of feet above street level. To date, we have never had water come in. It got close during Hurricane Ike at about five feet but we'll see how it does this time.

Just a drizzle right now but everyone is waiting to see where Harvey goes next. Very strange storm and steering currents so anything is possible. If it hangs overhead for several days as the weather gurus are predicting, it could get nasty.

Corpus Christi to the South is about to catch it bad. They just upgraded the storm to Cat 4 and climbing. The Emergency Center in that city just issued an alert telling anyone not evacuating to please write their Social Security number on their forearm with a marker. I'll let you figure out why they want that.

Gotta go. It's just past 8pm and I have a Hurricane Party to go to at REHAB Bar on the Bayou!

Wish I was there too. A good friend and fellow camper is just about to see an escrow close on his tow yard and junk yard. He and his wife are moving to the ARIZONA mtns to retire--we'll miss 'em. While I am happy for them, I could use a little rehabilitation about now. Jack

Hey Tango, hang in there, I know Htown floods at a hint of rain. I live in Corpus and made it through the night. Rockport (35 miles north east of Corpus) got hammered.

So far, so good here. Amazingly, my street has not flooded (yet) but the worst predicted rains are yet to arrive. It just keeps training in from the Gulf while Harvey hovers SW of here. And the weather guys still have no idea where it will go next. Or when.

Glad to hear Corpus was somewhat spared but imagine Rockport really got hammered. Last night after Harvey made Cat 4 the news reported winds of close to 150. Still have not seen any footage from that area. And the tornado watches and warnings continue all up and down the coast. I can deal with hurricanes but I HATE tornadoes. They can really put a damper on a good hurricane party.

PS...speaking of parties...the damned band wimped out last night and cancelled with hardly a sprinkle going on! Wusses!

Although, so far, I have only had a few sprinkles here near downtown. Real rain for only a few minutes (?). So far, so good (knock on wood).

Hang in there guys! Up here in Montana, we haven't had any real measurable rain since the end of May!! I would kill for just a wee portion of what y'all are going to get.

Kwik note on a borrowed computer and wifi (at REHAB Bar, of course). My building got swamped. Computer and pretty much everything else is dead. May be a while before I am back. Bus stayed above it all and that is where I will be living for a while.

Thanks All --- I'll be fine. Just SO happy that REHAB Bar stayed above water. In fact Gracie (the owner) cooked home made free goodies for everyone yesterday and passed out water as well as serving up great drinks. And free hot dogs and chili today!

I'll load up a bus and drive things down.. i did it last year for friends in lousiana and I'll do it for texas but only if needed.. so you all let me know if you need anything when things calm down and ill rally up anything I can...

thank god the Bar stayed above water!!!!! sometimes the best thing you can do is DRINK!
