Sorry to hear that Tango. Same here, took on a lot of water. Everything went under except the bus. Had so much water it popped the pool up out of the ground. 58 days away from retirement. Looks like we are going to be busy for a few days.

Well Damn Phatman...sorry to hear you got damp but glad to hear the bus is OK. Pretty much the same here. My studio is a mess...my living quarters are a mess...but my bus is safe on high ground. There is a 40' Skoolie parked just across from my studio at a shelter that had water up above the bottom of the windows. I'm guessing a total loss.

Will be some time before I have a new computer, so only occasional posts and updates till then.

Just hope all the other Houston Skoolies are OK.

And thanks for the very kind offer to Cadillac. Not really much to do here but shovel mud and wait for things to dry out.

HF made it without any flooding. Good to hear your bus made it too. I'd HATE to see all that hard work, planning, and custom building go down the drain....... That '46 is an AWESOME build!!!!!

Howdy All --- Back at REHAB Bar for some rhum and hotspot time. Still tearing out sheetrock and such. Zero progress on the bus. May be a month before I can touch it but as the old Johnny Winter song declares...

Thanks Jacob --- just started re-construction on my building today. Everything is still a mess but at least we are moving ahead. Just wish it all was not such a distraction from bus related work.

Hoping the folks in Florida don't take too bad a hit but Irma looks mighty nasty. Be safe.

Tango - which building flodded? your downtown garage or do you have a residence elsewhere? how much water got in? I know there were a couple flooded hotels downtown..

Hey Cadillac...it was my art studio in which I also have a small apartment/man cave. The building is about 75 years old and has never taken on water...till this time. Close to a foot throughout 17,500 sf and about 40 studios. Lots of stuff destroyed, lots of sheetrock being replaced. No idea how we will pay for it all but it certainly could have been worse.

Just filed with FEMA to see if any help might be available there.

wowsers!!! yeah a foot of water is terrible!! hopefully FEMA will come through... some friends got flooded last year in Louisiana.. FEMA did a little.. and they had insurance too.. but the crux was the insurance company wouldnt replace anything a foot above the water line.. so the fact their insulation wicked water and such meant nothing., they wouldnt gut the house.. even though it wouldve been dangerous and had black-mold in the walls.. I took a whole skoolie full of stuff down there last year.. and I'll do it again for you folks in houston if you need anything!!

Thanks Christopher --- Not much to do here now but throw on some sheetrock and fresh mud. But you are welcome here anytime just the same. Sorry to say the bus work has been idle now for a couple of weeks and it it will be at least a couple of more before I can get back on it.

Till then, you folks try and stay dry and keep up the good work.

Do you guys have Sheetrock or is it all sold out down there? I hear rumors these storms are causing shortages..
In 04 when 4 hurricanes went through Florida the market was so short that my new house being built was fitted with 5/8 all over.. even the ceilings.. so far we still have a bunch on the shelves.. in guessing if you are short I could fit quite a few sheets in a school bus?

super duper!! thats good they are keeping it stocked.. I know in 04 even up here in ohio they stopped shipping it in.. while a house built completely with 5/8" sounds like a dream.. its actually been a big issue with my ceilings..

Just a kwik Howdy --- I am back in my studio. We have been going around he clock. All the sheetrock and mud work is done and we are painting ($2 grand worth of paint...OY!).

Still sleeping on an air mattress on the concrete floor and no fridge but hope to remedy both shortly.

And still no computer. That is also coming soon...I hope. I miss being able to check in on my Skoolie buds regularly.

A borrowed laptop and lame-o hotspots sucks.

Thanks to All --- Finally have wifi back on at my studio but still not much time for online fun & games.

Thanks M...I will definitely give those folks a shout. Picked up a new computer and power supply, now need help getting everything from my old hard drive to the new one. Great to hear a reference. Unlike The Cadillac Kid...all this tech stuff is 100% VooDoo to me.

Picked up a cheap old iron bed at the Round Top antique show so now all I need is a real mattress and a fridge and life will begin to feel somewhat normal again. Well...once I recover a bit financially it might. Till then...

ONWARD!
