Now that is one odd duck. Anybody know if it is a production model...or a one off homebuilt?

PhotoShop...no fair! But it is...interesting, Joe. At one point I was looking at Mil-Spec Humvees as possible platform to build a camper type rig onto. But the whole budget thing started looking scary.

Is or was that a dump truck? It looks like a dump truck. Wonder if the back compactor still works....think of the possibilities around your trash & crapper.

My father-in-law tried to talk me into getting one of those 6x6 military trucks for my conversion. Fort Polk had a bunch at auction that went for under $5000. Saw some 8x8 trucks too. That woulda been cool, but pricey.

Thought about that with one of my M35 Deuces. Two big drawbacks - 1, the box I put on the back of one was WAAAAYY too small (12 foot) and 2, The air-over-hydraulic brakes were too labor intensive - read if truck not driven once every two or three weeks the master cylinder went bad. Swapped out DOZENS of these master cylinders due to sitting for other people. Got VERY pricey after a while.

Just me but I think I would put a swivel mount between at the "foot plate" incase the ground is not flat where it sits. And I'd angle the edges of the foot plates. That is, if I had the metal skills that you have.

We had those in my last Guard unit. Each one's rated for 18k lbs, and are really, really great to work with.

Oh sure...do it the easy way.

If I'd had one of those for the past couple of years...my back would be in much better shape now.

Somehow, my bus is just the perfect height off the ground. Too low to sit up under and too high to work under laying down. Would be great for my abs except for a couple of foot long surgical hernias that limit my sit up capacity.

here's one with fewer zeros in the price, but of course those extra zeros mean a lot!

Mighty Sweet Silversides! -- But just too darn big. Gotta love that doggie though. Besides...I'm probably close to being that deep into my cover$ion.

Thanks for the pic. Awesome bus at a bargain price from what I see. You would be hard pressed to buy a decent, used Toyota 4 Runner for that price.

Grrrrrrrrrr! --- STILL on hold for a bunch of major parts from my local sheetmetal shop. Been over a month but they have been swamped with "real" work that pays several orders of magnitude more than my piddly projects. Still...I really need to get moving and can't proceed any further on major work until a couple of them are ready. Hard to justify giving them grief though since as often as not they don't even charge me for many of them. Great bunch of guys, just a really busy shop.

Till then, it's just a lot of little make ready stuff going on. Not even worth pix. My biggest accomplishment has been to re-arrange my shop a bit, build another workbench and vacuum up two years worth of metal shavings and grinder wheel dust.

Whoopee.

Onward (?) Really?

I hate being stuck in that holding pattern! After waiting three weeks for a bargain A/C unit and a genny for my motorcycle tent trailer, the A/C finally arrived--it does not work. The genny is still in the mail somewhere, out near Pluto I expect. Think I'll clean my shop. Jack

"WooooSaaaaaHhhhh"

Is that the sound of "Venting"? If so...absolutely appropriate.
