Sorry for the lack of updates... dropped a tree on my house. Long story short... clearing trees at my property and the wind caught one out of nowhere... been a long week of dealing with insurance and such... also closing on a house we've been trying to sell... a lot on the plate at the moment.
Anyways.. I got the brakes back together and working well. Took the bus for a short drive down the road and the speedo was dead... trans wouldn't shift.
Odometer has been dead since I got it... all the fuses were good so I pulled the cluster to find a burnt PSOM (speedo control module) that sends a clean signal to the trans and speedo/odometer. Found one used and it's on the way.
Once that gets here, it should be mechanically ready to roll... we shall see on a couple short shake down runs around town.

Gauge cluster is back together.. just need to tune it. (Stock speedo can be calibrated by the end user)
Noticed a bit of play in the steering... bad tie rod end. Have all new steering components from Moog on the way.
Getting down to the nitty gritty finally.

My cabinet guy finally got a break and had time to come down and measure everything out. Should have the first (main) cabinet that will house the refrigerator and furnace in a week or so. Then just the "kitchen" counter and overhead storage cabinets.... frame out the bed and be ready to take our first shake down trip.

Been a crazy couple of months but the house is back together... finished our grid tied solar install... and now getting back to the bus!
Probably wont be able to make any long trips this year all things considered.. but should be ready to roll before too long.
I did pickup paint and such for the exterior (machine grey and black).. now waiting on the rain to stop.
I'll be posting more updates soon.

Congrats on the grid tie solar. Did you mount it on the roof or freestanding.how many kW? If you put some on your bus you can get pretty cheap grid tie inverters that feed back thru an outlet. Our solar system is 7.2kw battery backup / gridtie (outback) and another 1kw only gridtie with a 48 volt to 120 gridtie ( Chinese and works great)

Do you have any more details on how your lower queen bed will fold out? I'm thinking of doing the same type of thing. What size will your top bunk be? Twin?
Do you plan to have half of the queen bed fold up and the other half to remain? Thanks!

Its mounted on the roof of my pole barn. We did the installation ourselves (saved 16k in quoted labor... ordered materials from a wholesaler out of california which saved us 3k on components...)
Used Iron ridge racking. 27 - 340w Risen panels... 1 SMA SB7.7 inverter (with built in 2kw outlet for when sun is up but power is out).
The install and paperwork was actually pretty simple. After tax breaks coming at the first of the year, our total investment will be around $.70/watt installed.
Our power company has several tiers of net metering. We are currently on the 10k and under tier... but are considering upsizing a bit in the future. Waiting to see how this system performs over the next few months before we decide.

The hardest part was the month of studying the NEC and figuring out what code applied to what situation. Everything is now up and running though... averaging ~ 30-35kwh per day and the array is still 1kw down. Have to build the lean-to on the shop for space to mount the last panels.

We ended up using the pull out couch from the truck camper we gutted for our second bed.
The main bed will be queen sized across the back of the bus. It will split in the middle and each half will fold up against the walls.
Still working on the design of the bed but I THINK that's how it's gonna go. Lol

I've been working on different fold up/out designs for 2 twin XL beds which would make a king sized bed. That's my plan anyhow. If not, I might go the queen size bed and a bunk bed or 2 for the kids.

Cleaned the bus out last night and started working on the passenger seats.
I foundd some swivel quick detach bases in a pile of parts that came with the bus (didn't even know I had them). The mounting bases will be flush with the floor surface when finished and the bases quick detach from them. It's going to work out nice as my passenger seat will basically be blocking the bus door.
It will take roughly 30 seconds to disconnect the seat... fold it flat.. and stow it under the bed in the back once parked. Same deal with the boy's seat but it will be located in the aisle-way directly behind the front seats. That way, mommy can pivot her seat and tend to him at any time while on the road if need be.
Also planning on getting the roof top ac unit from the camper we gutted.. mounted up. Found out its a Duo therm 13.5k btu unit with heat. Should be plenty to cool down our shuttle with all the insulation that's in it now.
Anyways... didn't have my phone with me in the shop so no pictures... but I'll post some up later tonight or tomorrow as I finish the seat mounts.

I like the gray color. My wife is wanting to go with that type of gray on ours. I'd like to do black wheels with the gray. Is that gray primer or your final color paint?

Final color.
Got the nose painted today which was a nightmare. Also got a second coat on most of the flat panels and installed one of the new flares along with the battery access cover.

Just found this thread after looking to purchase an '08 of the same bus. Wow this is impressive. I wish I could see some more interior pics of everything installed. I want to convert my e350 in a similar fashion and you've just answered a lot of what I was still wondering. Good luck on the rest of the build!

Passenger seat mount sunk into floor... suck part is, can't get to the bolts from the underside. Going to be interesting to say the least... but it's gonna happen.
