A neighbor of mine used a swivel recliner for a driver's seat. He said it wasn't even attached to the floor. Seatbelts were optional at one time.

No, these are bus seats I'm working on, like for a bus. Few topics going at once. You want airline captains chair and they employ KISS.
I went to HS in Tucson long ago, spent much time at the base and the boneyards. I miss that source of aluminum now. Home of the A-10.

My buddy's dad helped design the A-10. Amazing machines for sure!

There are some nice ones here, but to recline, they need space behind them.
They also sell Pilot seats.

Yeah, I need a driver's seat that reclines and has a tray table. Maybe a nap will shorten the drive.

Since they do not give prices on their site, I am going to assume that the seats probably cost more than I paid for my bus

Congrats
Most of us seem to find ourselves constantly under improvement/construction.
The mother-in-law seat is a good idea.

I have seats from and MD-80 Air Italia. I bought the 3 set section for $75 in Nashville. I have them on a custom box built on the right front wheel hump.

Make a hinged platform over the stairwell (so the seat tilts towards the door.)
Open door.
Pull pin.
Close door.
I mean, pyrotechnics or compressed air would be awesome, but I'd like to be able to re-set the system without blasting a window out of the bus.
