Has anyone installed airline seats in their skoolie?
Looking at first class or business class seats that fit into a floor channel.

Not really. There's a place in Orlando that has them for about $400 for a pair.
Freight would be a killer though.

I looked into them- they were nice leather, recline, safe, light, adaptable, sturdy.

There was a guy in Milwaukee that had 2-wide seats for $250. I didn't think it was bad. Tougher to build storage around them, but they are proper vehicle chairs and seat bottoms float in the event of a water landing !

I scored a pair of NOS Recaro pneumatic bus driver seats, now have to figure out this German over-engineered wiring. They love their modules, tight on docs.

You have to shop carefully because they can be very expensive.

I was considering replacing the driving seat with an airline seat ... Plenty on eBay but Captain's seats from a 747 were over $1000, plus shipping.

Contact the Aircraft bone yards, you would also need the channel they clip into.

maybe? certain cool factor. but I fly enough to know most of the airplane seats i sit in I wouldnt want to any longer than it takes to fly across the country let alone drive..

I have a Air Force buddy that is VP at the bone yard in Tucson Az,I'll contact him to see what they do with them, I know my company will no longer allow them to be taken because some dumbass mounted a bunch in a van & was involved in a accident , seats came loose then tried to sue the Airline for giving them to him.

That one looks shot- few million miles of butt time gives it a funk.

The one I posted is a Captain's Chair....from the Starship Enterprise.

I asked if anyone has actually used airline seats because I'm curious how you dealt with the power requirements. I looked up some of the manuals and I think they use 15V and some other stuff I didn't understand.
I think they look really cool and come with built in trays and recliners, just don't know if they would actually work.

meh. 15v= 12v=13.6 v for dc motors. They just run a tiny bit slower. If there are modules, they will have range on spec sheet, and everything off of an airplane has documentation.

I'm working on those Reacro air seats at the moment. The thigh pad extends and raises to adjust for your leg length. Germans are a trip.

They have limit switches, control switches, motors, actuators and this one has a tiny air compressor in the seat back for the lumbar (Thank-you Germany).

There is a tiny computer for the air lift that adjusts automatically based on weight and limits.

Here is just the harness for the seat I am figuring out. I think I got it beat.

I was also thinking of an airline seat for my bus, but they're not only pricy but usually not very comfortable anyway. A friend of mine was selling the seats out of his Crown Atomic hi-level tour bus, but they don't fit my seat rails. So, my Plan B is to use a mesh-covered outdoor patio chair - lightweight, cool in hot weather, comfortable, inexpensive, rotates, looks half decent, buy them anywhere (but maybe not right now!): what's not to like? The only challenge would be to attach the seatbelt to it safely and to attach it to the floor, but I've done harder things than that up to now.

So, has anyone here used a patio chair in a bus? And I don't mean a $5 white plastic chair, or a lawn chair, or something yuk.
