Re: Bookmobile / Turfmobile

I notice a lot of people position their double/queen bed sideways, and I assume that is because it just fits perfectly in that dimension; but I personally would not want to have to crawl over my wife (or vice versa) to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, or if one person goes to bed or wakes up earlier or later. I dunno, man... seems like a pain. Plus, I would think the person who is on the inside might get claustrophobic. Maybe it's just me...

That is why we have an island bed. I got really tired of crawling over David. It's a real pain when I'm sick and trying to make a mad dash to the bathroom. So when we cut down the kingsize waterbed head/foot boards, they were cut down to "full" size. We aren't skinny folks but we have learned to sleep in a full bed. So far I have only rolled out on the floor twice. The aisles on each side of the bed is 14.5" which is wide enough to slide down the side of the bed. Island beds are much easier to make up. I no longer sit ion the mattress trying to get a fitted sheet on the mattress.

Re: Bookmobile / Turfmobile

i wish i had an island bed.

i am quite good at making the bed on its side, all at once (if you notice, the bed is made, standing on its side in pic above)

from the back, an island bed would have put the front corners of the bed on the wheel wells, so there was no way for a walk around bed there. the only place it would have worked was mid-ship, and that wasn't any better. i could have had a side aisle but the roof is low on the sides, and i didn't care for that.

Re: Bookmobile / Turfmobile

Our bed is up against the wall with the shower on one side and a closet at the foot so we have just a corner of the bed for a dismount. The mattress has a clipped corner too, but I've been able to scootch off the end when nature calls. Wifey 's got a nice clear shot which keeps her happy. If we had the space I'd definitely go with an island bed.

Re: Bookmobile / Turfmobile

i just got some cool led lights!!!

i should have got the lights before pulling my wires.

i got 9 fixtures at just under 4 watts each. that's 36 watt divided up between 4 circuits

i might be pulling some of that wire out of there.

i'm frustrated at the selection at my local store. none of the switches are rated for DC. i hate to ask....but, can i use an 125vac rated wall switch to control about 16 watts of leds?

Re: Bookmobile / Turfmobile

Yes you can, only issue would be spark over(corrosion) from 12v

120 has less amps for same load,so 12v is "harder" on switches.......turn on and take pictures....and LED'S don't take shiat for power....you'l be fine

I got some 12v switches (and a bunch of other stuff) from Bottom Dollar Surplus on ebay. He's been good about adjusting shipping costs for multiple items. These Sigma brand switches are 2 5/8 tall and 1 1/2 wide with spade connectors on the back.

Re: Bookmobile / Turfmobile

roughed in? that's what she said

i'm not liking how dark the stain turned out.... i might have to start again on those pieces.

for now, i'm gonna keep going but much lighter on the stain.

the next electric challenge is putting in a stove/oven. because i have a stove and a big generator.... i want to use them as best i can.

first things first though.... here is a quick electric tour of the bus.
the bus has a big Hanco generator hanging from the belly on the drivers side. the gen feeds a breaker panel inside.

Re: Bookmobile / Turfmobile

then the panel feeds AC circuits in the bus. i believe each outlet has its own breaker, almost anyway.

the bus came with 3 electric heaters that use the 240 breakers. i want to swap one of the 240 circuits for a stove install.

and barely visible, is the battery charger with the funny end. it will plug into the nearby outlet when i change the receptacle.

that battery charger will charge the battery bank i have not yet purchased. my new battery bank will take over the spare tire carrier.

Re: Bookmobile / Turfmobile

then to finish it off. the battery bank will feed the new DC distribution panel, and then my led light

Re: Bookmobile / Turfmobile

That is a big generator. I'm planing to stay around 30 Amps, unless I get a second air conditioner. I will get either a 6 kw or 8 kw generator.

It's actually capable of 100 amps at 120 volts, as at 240 volts it can produce 50 amps per hot leg.
