Re: Bookmobile / Turfmobile
I worked on some unfinished projects today.
the diesel furnace needed to be vented. i had the exhaust just vented under the bus, but you good people were quick to point out that it should exit the apron of the bus body. so i found this stainless steel "thru hull" boat part that makes for a great exhaust port.
here you can see the exhaust tube right behind the new stainless steel port...... it curves up to the furnnace unit.
and cut what i think will be the last hole in the bus! (i hope)
this hole will be a 15/20A plug in for shore power to connect to the battery charger. i can unplug the battery charger from this receptacle and plug it into the bus generator.
more pics when the wiring is finished...

Re: Bookmobile / Turfmobile
speaking of holes......
i never showed the stove exhaust vent hole. the stove is a down draft model, so my vent exit is on the floor..... just so happens its right on top of the generator.
i'll put and elbow and a damper on it to finish it off. i think it will exhaust under the bus towards the drive shaft instead of out the side....the generator door is right there making the outside difficult.
and i finished up the wiring to my plug in.
the holes visible here are the water fill mid way up on the right, the heater exhaust and the electric plug in..... flanking my battery box.

I have been reading through your conversion and getting so many ideas for my own.. Great job and quality work! Hopefully this isn't to ignorant of a question, but what's the reasoning for bringing the waste tank vent across to the drivers side? Thanks

Re: Bookmobile / Turfmobile
its a Clipper Battery Monitor BM-1
it comes with a shunt, you can see it in the picture on the upper left. the included wire (15') was to short to run to the front of the bus, but i just ran a substitute and will mount the panel above the drivers seat. also...it has a limit of 650 amp hour bank.
other than displaying the percentage charge.... it measures the amp hours out that you use... and if you charge.... it puts them back in.
so far..... i really like it!
here is a link to one on ebay..... there are many there.

i could not have gone this far without Redbear either

thats a fair question....
the waste tank is next to the door of the bus. For odor control, i wanted the vent to be as far away from any window or entrance to the bus, and i didn't want to put it in the roof.
the stretch of real estate between the drivers window and the rear window seemed like the least offensive place to put it. the vent needs to be higher than the counter level in the sink. installing it in the roof would have been much more difficult. the bus is nicely insulated with spray on foam..... no need to carve more of that out than i need too. on the outside, the vent is 7'+ off the ground on the non camp side of the vehicle. the waste tank should should also be on the drivers side of the vehicle, but there was no room for mine with the generator already there. i will always be backwards at dump stations.
the plumbing has not been fully tested yet..... so its all still a wait and see project. i have my fingers crossed here that it all works.

Re: Bookmobile / Turfmobile
for a long time i considered a macerator pump, or even a macerating toilet.
the macerator toilet even has a warm water bidet built in
but truly the there is no room for a large tank under the bus ......except between the frame rails behind the differential.
it could have been done, but i would have needed another pump for the grey system.
my waste tank location, under the fuel tank, gives me the use of regular rv plumbing fixtures. not $1000 ones.

Re: Bookmobile / Turfmobile
I was thinking just the basic macerating pump that fits a normal 3" dump from the black water tank. Still a $200+ solution.
I hate black water tanks so much I am planning a composting toilet. Even though it may cost more than the bus

Re: Bookmobile / Turfmobile
I think for someone who has said I don't know what I'm doing through out this thread you have done a bang up job!
Is that the full size of your table? If so why so small? Do you plan to do most of your eating outside?
Do you plan to use some sort of panel on it to convert to another bed?

Re: Bookmobile / Turfmobile
thanks for the kind words and thanks for reading!
it is a tiny table!!
just enough room for 2 place settings
honestly, when i ordered it i was just guessing approximate size. it came from the counter top people. and you can see im building my benches now.
first go round with the benches were too big. they extended out enough to prevent walking past the table. the drivers side is right now..... but i still need to shorten the passenger side to match.
on my sketchup floor plan of the bus, it is the outside dimension of the bus. the wall framing made that measurement 8" shorter than it really is. so my small table is still too wide. when i'm done trimming the benches, there should be about 9" of clearance on the table to pass on either side. just enough to trip
no board across the camper for sleepers. passengers 3 and 4 can sleep long ways on the short sofas. both driver seat and passenger seat swivel around to extend the length of the sofa, to accommodate an adult length body.
im a single guy..... the table is plenty big for me and the dog.
