Re: Bookmobile / Turfmobile
Muchas gracias!
for all the kind words from other skoolie owners and forum watchers.
its finally coming together.
couple more coats of poly and those cabinets will be ready to install.
and the bench to follow.
i went to the upholsterer today... dropped of the bench seat and the bus seats. i'm tired of making decisions about the bus, fabric choices glaze my eyes over, so i gave him some pictures of the bus and said 'surprise me'.

Re: Bookmobile / Turfmobile
Seats and headliners went off to the upholstery guy today
i got some new holes cut out for my battery monitors
and one problem.....
this headliner in stuck in there..... there seems to be a tab behind the wall that is fastened to the 2x4 horizontal joists of the wall..... yikes...... to pull it out right means the bed has to get removed.
im gonna think a day or 2 and see if i can find a better way.

Wow!....Looks like quite a bit of basic infrastructure is already on the inside. Seems like a nice, tight ride.

Re: Bookmobile / Turfmobile
Did you get the seat re-upholstered as well, or did you just match the upholstery with the healdiner and such? I have 2 swivel seats that are comfortable, but the upholstery is a wretched, faded pink. I'm wondering roughly what it costs to get a seat done. If you can shed any light on the situation I'd much appreciate it!

Re: Bookmobile / Turfmobile
upholstery guy is gonna fix up the original seats.....and and redo the seats, benches and headliners.
he ballparked about $300 a chair... but i was also asking about a custom design.
i'll know more in a few weeks
looking up at my "swivel chair" in the pic..... i can see one of the one of my design flaws....
the chair should swivel and be the same height as the bench...... almost.... if you look back up, the drivers seat is raised up about 2" on a plat form.
so...... one of the chairs will be level..... dont know how the other one will be. or which one will be off
we'll see when it goes back in

Re: Bookmobile / Turfmobile
someone mentioned on the fb thread about skoolies and buyer's remorse. this door and the hardware to make it work were one of those things a year ago when i bought the stuff.
a year ago, the bus was a money pit. today is one of those days when .....hey, maybe its all worth it...
ladies and gentlemen,.............
my bathroom door
and open:
and a video
this is almost done, i still need to install the floor guide that keeps the door next to the wall
the self closing hardware here is called a "Slido" by Hafele

Outstanding job on the Loo/Shower! --- I have to build something similar...but it has to fit around & over part of the wheel well. I'm thinkin' marine plywood with fiberglass over it for the base and FRP up the sides.
PS...I HATE working with fiberglass but can't think of anything else that can be fitted to such an oddball shape as I will wind up with.
