Co Pilot seat for shorty

I just added this co pilots seat for my shorty. I spent some time looking for a used jump seat but ended up buying a new one from Suburban Seats, cost $435. I like the seat and will be adding an over the shoulder belt once I figure out how.

Next project will be relocating or eliminating the door mechanism, any suggestions?

Frame wise that is very similar to the fold up jump seat the bus had at the emergency exit. I keep mine to reupholster and reuse. That may work well in mine as a co pilot.

The budget is for an air ride seat with built in seat belt, a base that will rotate 180 degrees. The hard part is a swivel base that will stand up to the forces in a crash. only found two that seem to have been tested at all.

Can you post the link for that specific one on Suburban? I can not find that model on their web site (driver error I suspect).

I forgot to mention the arm rests. They are an option when you call Suburban Seats. I ordered two upholstered arm rests for $38 each, 76$ for both.

So is the base seat cheaper than what you gave?

No it isnt with the armrests added. I paid $435 total including $76 for the armrests and $70 shipping so actually it’s 10 more now.

I also didn’t mention that you have to specify upholstered armrests if you want them, they have a cheaper black plastic armrest version also.

Hello! I know this post is from a few years ago, but I was wondering if this seat was easy to install? I'm new to the skoolie world, but this looks like the best option by far for a co-pilot seat for my 4 window chevy bus

The seat itself was easy to install, just 4 bolts through the floor. You need two people because you can't access both sides of the bolt at the same time. It was a little fussy figuring the best place to go through the floor to miss stuff below.

I cut a (middle) section out of the base to lower the seat height and had a friend weld the shorter base back together.

The harder and more expensive part of the installation was the structure to hold the seat belt and at the same time I removed the bus door operating assembly and had the door rebuilt with a more normal door handle/latch.

I also added a swivel assembly to my front driver seat. I will try to include pictures.

I mounted my co-pilot seat on a power seat track at a 45 degree angle. It allows me to move the seat out of the entry step path when camping. The seat also rotates and slides fore and aft.

I went to the junk yard and took 2 Kia Sedona seats and seat belts out.

Driver seat is fully power with 1 arm rest, co-pilot seat has 2 arm rests. It is the seat in the second roll and can fold up and roll away. Make sure you take the mounting brackets for the co-pilot seat.

Driver seat can be mounted directly to the floor or homemade adaptor steal plate.

Co-pilot seat will be mounted by bolting the mounting brackets from the Sedona.

I am order a swivel pate for the driver seat so that it can rotate 180 and face the dining table.
