Just waiting on my mom to bring the steel over next time she comes to this part of town to feed the horses.
Gonna have some more cut for the rear windows. I'm gona delete the ones on the rear door for sure and probably the ones next to the rear door too. May replace later with some rv stuff with screens.

The bus has sunk down the spot I park it in at least 4 inches. Gona bring in some dirt and pack it in to try and mitigate the ruts.

LOL ... even a shorty weighs a few pounds! I can see the stress relief crack in our driveway is widening just a little from having 17000 pounds on it for three years.

I got a gas powered compressor off of fb marketplace for $300. Rol Air with a 3.5 hp Honda motor. Does 110 PSI and will run all my air tools with no need to idle the bus engine.



I found it difficult to find a big compressor that was able to safely run off my 3500w generator. A gas powered one solves that problem.

finally got my steel cut-


I have a couple extra. They're sized specifically for Thomas roof hatch deletion! 16ga.
The way the panels are up on the roof there's a perfect spot, so I had em sized for that.
Thankfully I won't have to cut the 14x14 hole for ac/vent. Had that cut with the plasma when the panel was cut out.

I need a pair of 28x28 inch steel panels for my roof ACs. Gonna have to try a metal shop in my area and see if they can also do the 14x14 hole at the same time.

Shouldn't be a problem. Any fab shop should have a plasma table.

Still haven't done the roof hatch delete.

But I did fire it up and take it for a ride yesterday.

IDK why it never did this before but my WC door has two switches. When I open it for ventilation when hanging out in the bus something new to me is happening. The dome light above the WC entrance comes on and stays on till the door is shut. Also a light buzzing/ticking sound comes from behind the switch panel in the dash. One day I got the light to go off but now anytime the wc door is open the light and buzz are there. Gonna have to figure that out cause I don't need that feature killing my battery!

I did think (really) you were doing the roof hatch delete to put rooftop a/c on it. One unit would cool your bus nicely.

I've got two panels cut to do the hatch delete. I don't have an ac unit right now but may get one SOON. One panel has a 14" square pre-cut the other doesn't. I'm holding out till I figure out exactly what I wana do for ac. Then I may as well sand and reseal the roof, repaint it, and be done up there. Definitely gonna keep taking lil bites of this project while we're both home with it.
We got out there today and the heat index said the "feels like" temp was 111f. Got the bracket and mechanism from the stop-arm off the front bumper finally. can't believe I put up with that thing on there rattling for so long!

Still can't really get a good answer on what turn signals to buy. I don't want em flashing funky. Was gona get led units but now I'm considering buying new oem freightliner units with regular old bulbs cause I can get the same exact thing that's on there and I know it will work without any fuss. I'm about to take off the corner mirrors and fill the holes left from them. Gotta see if I still have some fiberglass filler.

You said the WC door. I expect you mean wheelchair door. but I was playing with it, and said water closet i.e. bathroom.

You might be able to buy flashers for led turn signals. I did try all bulbs being led and that did not work. So my rear turns are led and the front are regular bulbs. that is working good.

Yeah, I see there are flashers/modules for led's. I just want to know what I'm buying/doing. One of my turn signals is completely inoperable so I kinda need to order something soon.

Heh, I actually thought you meant your "water closet" aka bathroom. I couldn't figure out why you were surprised by this light behavior if you'd built the bathroom.

WC does seem to be more of a European term for bathroom.


Charlie, are the turn signals in front the ones that are flaky? I replaced our bulbs fairly recently. They are standard sizes that can be found at Walmart (and other) stores. Of course, you have seen the rears ... they are LED ... the factory had incondescents for the turns and LEDs for the brakes.

Yeah I've got the same as yours. But my housings and lenses are toast.

Got the stop arm bracket and mechanism off today. FINALLY!




I followed the air line to under the dash but I'm going to have to tear the dash apart to do some re-arranging. I cut the line and then pulled the switch out of the harness so it can't accidentally be engaged.
