Oh the Alcoa's will look just right on your bus.

Charlie, both my a/c's are dometic brisk air II as well. So far have only used one and it keeps comfortable. So you should be fine with one. Curtains on the windows do make quite a difference too, and we have the driving area blocked off with drapes/curtain.

also thing to think about is how you plan to use the bus.. a 13.5 would easily cool it at night or in the shade (im talking parked not as driving A/C). so if you plan to park in shady areas or install solar that shades the roof then you dont need near as much A/C as if you plan on being able to keep the bus cool in july florida sun at 2pm


look around for RV junkyards too.. there are often still-good A/C units to be had..



right now with RVs being wildly popular everything RV is expensive.. people are not only buying new ones this year they are fixing up "that old camper that sat beside the house for 10 years".. which means things like fridges, A/C units etc are selling out...



unless you plan on usingthe bus this year then id wait till winter when no one gives a care about their RV in 2/3 of the country and buy your A/C then..

Do the ones I listed look like they're worthwhile? I wasn't planning on AC for my own bus, but that price looks right.

Yes there are what I have on my bus, and one of them was on my camper for 5 years before putting on the bus, so it has held up well.

I do wish they were quieter though. My bus sitting in the sun with one running will keep it comfortable up to mid 90's outside. With window curtains closed.

If Charlie does want one I am up in Frederick Maryland a lot maybe we could meet up? I would be glad to get it down to him if he can wait till fall.

yeah not in a hurry. Will just be patient and watch for a deal.
My bus spends 99.9% of its time sitting in direct FL sun so a 15k it shall be. Not worried as much about road ac. Just want a cold place to chill and maybe an emergency shelter if the house power is out due to storms.

Apparently, somewhere at about the halfway point in between you and Philly, there is a salvage yard that has a bunch of buses. BreweryBob told me about it but I can't remember the name of the place. This is hopeful on my part, but maybe we could meet there and I could give you the ACs in return for helping me pull a rear bumper.

I dunno, let's wait and see if this guy still has the ACs. Seems like the kind of thing that would have been snapped up pretty quickly, but the best CL posts never get deleted.

Yeppers that needs an outside cold water source to cool the condenser .. you could prob build something but by time to create a small radiator , expansion bottle and fan you may as well buy a rooftop camper AC

Well, if my bus ever dies my plan is to roll it onto a barge and turn it into a houseboat, so maybe it would be usable then.

Just kidding, I'm glad I can run stupid ideas past you guys first. Are these marine units notably more efficient, though? I would imagine it's a lot easier to transfer heat to a cold liquid than to warm air.
