Me and Adam offered to pave johns entire driveway for four grand.
He paid a local halfwit farmhand dude two grand and all the guy did was dump a few yards of aggregate.
I think I could spend about five grand and get a nice slab. Of course- I'd be doing half the work.

Expthernic is relative.. yeah at 25 degrees maybexitcmakes enough heat long enough that it can cure.. but it makes less heat as it cures.. you also have a threshold where it can’t make enough heat to keep itself warm. Pouring a slab you have a better chance st it making enough heat with just tarpong it.. but when they pour building decks where there is metal under it and open wind things get much tougher..

You can def save if you can stop by local Home Depot with your bus and pick up a few day workers to work the mud for you vs having a real contractor do it

John's house isn't exactly parked on the edge of the road. That ain't a bad price.

Right?
His aggregate driveway is almost worn out again.
There's so much facepalm over there these days...
Can't wait to have our own spot.

Glad I quoted this... I read $700 the first time thru.

$20k @ $100 yrd = 200 yrds.

1 yrd^3 = 54 ft^2 @ 6" thick
200 * 54 = 10,800 ft^2
10,800 ft^2 = 103 ft wide by 103 long

Yeah, that'll do!!

The $100 is just for the concrete, no labor at all

The new owners are moving in next door to us. I think.
They're older with two brand new $40,000 cars look fairly wealthy. The real estate bubble is back if folks are paying $150k to live here. On a positive- they seem to be really nice folks so a BIG improvement over the last owners. Hopefully its not a rental. I need to go actually talk to them and find out more. Their front door is maybe 20 feet from mine- they basically live in a part of "my backyard". ahhh, city life!

Back to the bus- I plan to go to the tag office tuesday and get the tag from our IC transferred to this bus. Once I actually start work on the bus I reckon I'll start an actual build thread with a title. Really gona try to hold on to this one, at least a while. I'd love to actually finish one for a change.

Gona sit on it a bit. Maybe try to get a parts bus for it next year of maybe even this winter. It may go up for sale, idk. Hard to decide but if we don't sell the house then I'll likely sell it whole around tax season.
I want to keep it, obviously. Hard to find a bus like it.
If I can get the driveline shake at freeway speeds fixed this bus is about as good as they get.

I've never worked with concrete but some wood framing, some leveling... can't be that hard.

Been wondering about that. You're good at tearing them apart but are you any good at putting them back together? No one knows yet.

I got the RX-7 done (1st gen 7 with an RX-8 drivetrain). Took 2 or 3 years. Once I was done with it, I was done. Done with auto crossing, done with cars. Just done. The bus is the new goal. I hope to hell I don't get hald way thru with it and change directions.

Getting long in the tooth these days. Was really feeling it this weekend. My back hurt like hell just from bending over and welding. Need to get this damn bus done while I still can. Next month is 50 yrs old. I know you're right behind me. This getting old **** sucks.

Raising the roof wasn't too bad. I'd think slapping some plywood down and putting in a restroom should actually be fun!
This bus will have a bunk bed in the rear and a restroom. The rest of it will be seating. Thinking about just going with 4 of the transit seats from Kubla's "Nuke Bus" and arranging them to form a dinette on each side of the aisle just behind the driver.
All I really want is a cruiser for driving around in. Being able to take a crap and camp in it occasionally will be the icing on the cake.

I want to do more than plywood. Once I get it closed up. Spray foam and then I'll be there.

Need to go back thru all the build threads and see what they do for attaching ceilings and walls. Just strips of wood screwed into the ribs?

im AHEAD of you.. I turn 50 on dec 11 . i still feel pretty good.. but I know that probably wont last forever.

well when I sold my last hotrod a few years back i told myself i was done.. not going to build any more vehicles.. I still had that shorty bluebird 454 gasser sitting in a garage forelorn.. it just sat there another couple years till it burned.. but after that fire my spirit got re-ignited for school busses.. and now here I am... I think i went through a seriously depressive state.. my old friends that stopped by on thanksgiving saw this in my hallway and said "welcome back!.. we wondered where christopher was".. so I have a feeling i'll be building things till the day I die..

Knew you were close but was betting on a Jan being ahead of you. I'm older than most of my graduating class. You're exactly 1 month ahead of me.

It's good you got it back. The bus was supposed to be my exit plan. Live full time in it. Even since buying the bus (not quite 2 yrs) the plan has already changed. House in the great white north and one in FL, bus in between. House in the great white north is bought (not paid for yet). Still looking for a FL house.

Just what I need, another place to stock with tools. Ugh.

Folks use different methods.
This shorty isn't meant to be lived in, so all I'm doing is the basics. I might replace the glass bats with foam board.

We may be driving this as a daily driver starting next week. We took Sarah our VIN verification form and she's going to notary stamp it today. Next thursday we're going to the DMV to transfer the tag from our IC bus to this bus.
Started it up and drove it around Shaun's a bit. The alternator took a couple mins to start charging but other than that it runs great.
Heading out again tomorrow to get to work on prepping it for paint and stuff.
Gonna be cheap and quick, but we are proud to have a functional bus again. HAIL HAIL!

If your alternator is like mine, it won't actually engage until the first time it hits about 1500 alternator rpm. From Bosch:

What does “turn-on speed” mean?

The Alternator RPM at which it initially supplies current when the engine is turned on. The turn-on speed of the Long Hauls and the SB200 is about 1500 alternator rpm (Engine rpm approx. 500), if the L terminal is not connected. The turn-on speed of the Long Haul Alternators is about 1200 alternator rpm (Engine rpm around 400) if the L-terminal is connected
