Hello from a MN noobie (west central outstate)

Hello -

My name is Scott and I'm a bus-a-holic! I was shocked when I found out about this site and I love it; I thought I was alone with in my fascination of buses.

We have a 79 Chev "Wayne Bassett (sp?)) that has been gutted and painted and ready for conversion... and we're about to pick up two new ones. One 99 GMC 3500 21 pas and a 98 21 pas. They were used for head start etc and are in excellent shape. Both have 50,000+ miles. Anyway, we're gonna keep the 99 and sell the other two. I do some airbrushing so I'm torn what type of theme to go with.

I'll be interested to learn more about heat/air roof units and possibly a roof deck.
One big thing for me will be checking into adding a rear extention to the frame etc to carry a golf cart/four wheeler/grill etc.

Well, thanks in advance and I'm looking forward to learning as much as possible.

GO VIKES!

Whereabouts in Minnesota are you from? I'm originally and always will be an Iron Ranger, but I'm now a resident of Mankato as I pursue further education.

New York Mills. On 10 between Detroit Lakes and Wadena...lived in various different states and a few different towns in MN but ended up back home again.

Hmmm...my family has deep ties to Wadena and I've been through Detroit Lakes a ton of times heading out to Medora, ND and beyond, but I've never been to New York Mills. At any rate, welcome aboard.

What do you want to know? I have three of them in my new bus. I had only fan/air units before and the heat/air ones are very handy especially since you don't need to do anything special over one without heat.

Great, I guess first I'd just like to know what brand/size works the best for a shorty. I really haven't done any research yet so anything you can give me for a start or to filter out the bs would be great. Here in MN you deal with extremes and can get them during the mild times of the year too. Thanks much.
