Hitch for 1995 Chevy G30 16-Passenger

Hello out there.

Does anyone happen to know what kind of a hitch will fit onto a 1995 Chevy G30 16-passenger bus? It has a Wolfington body. Should an after-market chassis engine designed for a Chevy G30 van work? Any thoughts would be most appreciated. Thanks.

Jerry

Best thing is to just measure it, and call a hitch shop.

good luck

Re: Hitch for 1995 Chevy G30 16-Passenger

I have a Wayne Body Shorty on a GMC frame. I purchased the longest receiver tube I could find. I have not instaled it yet, but I had a couple of welders look at it. We are going to remove the two center bolts, cut a 2 X 2 hole to accomidate the tube. The slide the tube all the way to the lip on the receiver tube. Weld it to the frame under the bus, then backweld to the bumper around the tube lip. I hope to achieve a somewhat hidden hitch look this way. When I am not towing a trailer, I plan to have some type of cool brake light hitch plug. Most likely a Skull and Cross Bones whose eyes light up when the brake light comes on. The disadvantage to my design is you will have to pin the receiver from under the bus, as well as plug in the elecrtic. I may also need to drill a new pin hole, as I think the hole on my tube is too far forward for this application. I am also going to drill an extra hole in the tube inorder to hide the wires when I am using the hitch plug, just to make it look clean. I believe I will come out cheaper in the end, than having an elaborate manufactured hitch installed. You should be able to locate receiver hitches at a shop or metal supply for $15.00 or less. I got my extra long one on Ebay, ran around 30 buck with shipping, just have to pay someone who welds better than I do. You can build your own tube also out of box iron, but a manufactred tube will be a tighter fit, so you will not have the BANG & Clang as bad on your stops, starts and turns. Also need to check your specific trailer applications for turning clearance before you have too much weld to turn back.
